The five best years in PC gaming history

Recommended Posts

PC Gamer ran a new article about this: https://www.pcgamer.com/the-five-best-years-in-pc-gaming-history

I hereby disagreed on the number one spot.... and C&C3 should be in the 2007 list damn it.

The six best years in PC gaming history IMO are:
6) 1993 (where Doom changed FPS and PC Gamer first started)
5) 1999 (where RPG and some RTS games are at their best while UT pwns Quake 3 on gameplay and graphics)
4) 1996 (where C&C Red Alert, Civilizations II and Duke Nukem 3D are at their best, while Diablo and Quake are just the beginning)
3) 2015 (where GTA V, The Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Metal Gear Solid 5 and Resident Evil (remake) are at their best while Cities Skylines and Her Story are some of the best Indies ever)
2) 2007 (where Bioshock, Crysis and Call of Duty 4 are at their best while UT3, C&C3, Supreme Commander and World of Conflict are moderately good games and The Orange Box was ridiculously overhyped)
1) 1998 (where Half-Life, Starcraft, Unreal and Rainbow Six series all began)

I'd say the best year in PC gaming history is now, because I can play all of those games today if I want to. :D
