C&C3 Kane Edition on Windows 10

So I can't get C&C3 to work on Windows 10 I can install and run the game after installing direct from the disc but once I install the 1.09 patch the game gives me an error on startup.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this error? I've looked around and all I seem to ever find is in relation to either the Steam or Origin versions of the game not the disc version.

Have you tried changing the compatibility settings of those executable files to at least Windows Vista or 7 in the file properties? Also check in "run as administrator" when you run programs in all recent versions of Windows.

Yes those were the first things I tried and I still get the same error.

Edit: I've also uninstalled the game and reinstalled it on a different drive.

i know this doesn't help but the Origin version runs fine. and for $25 it isn't to bad although you might run into some bigger issues with the older games
