New C&C: The Ultimate Collection Hotfix - Steam Overlay and DDrawCompat Update

Moments ago, the Steam and EA App versions of Command & Conquer: The Ultimate Collection received a hotfix, specifically the 2D titles in the compilation. While a major patch is being developed, this hotfix was pushed forward after recent Windows Insider builds had broken compatibility with the games as they were thus far. Thankfully, the DDrawCompat build 0.5.3 was made about a month ago which, among else, fixed these issues.

We have just pushed a quick hotfix patch for the C&C Ultimate Collection on both Steam and EA App that updates DDrawCompat to version 0.5.3. You should receive this update in the next hour (2pm PST onwards).

This new update contains many performance fixes that should improve the overall gameplay experience, but there are a couple of fixes included that where added thanks to all the feedback from the C&C Community;

• Adds support for the Steam Overlay.
• Fixes an issue where recent Windows Insider builds were unable to play Tiberian Dawn, Red Alert, Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2 (reported by Valve and Microsoft).
• Fixes mispositioned (or missing) UI elements in DPI aware mode or if the user uses a large desktop DPI setting.
• Fixes an issue where Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge would freeze for ~30 seconds when entering the Skirmish menu.
• Unlocks support for the 1024x768 resolution option in Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge.
• Changes the default scaling filter to be bilinear so it's easier on the eyes.

To apply the patch, simply allow Steam/EA App to auto-update the games.
