Gaizokubanou 0 Posted August 10, 2005 I'm pretty sure AC series won't have any PC port... and there are enough great air combat simulators out for PC already guys. Granted most of them are based on WWII... but who would need to engage in dog fights in F-22 or F-15 when most of your enemies can be blown away before you get to even see them? I don't understand why you guys would want AC series to have PC port when you can get LO-MAC Share this post Link to post
F15pilotX 4 Posted August 11, 2005 Have any of you tried the mod Project Raptor??? I did, but it made Zero Hour screw up Share this post Link to post

I don't understand why you guys would want AC series to have PC port when you can get LO-MAC Cause its fun !! And a chalenge. Wheres the fun in blasting your enemy from like 800 kilometres away ?? SW dogfighting is close in too, but they get lasers which are vastly supperior to bullets. Speaking of which, I hear the X-02A stealth uses lasers........... Share this post Link to post

Gaizokubanou 0 Posted August 16, 2005 Cause its fun !! And a chalenge. Wheres the fun in blasting your enemy from like 800 kilometres away ?? The fun is when you destroy your enemy by utilizing all of the ultra high tech gears (like ECM, doplar radar, BVR weapons, etc.) at your disposal At first I was VERY skeptical about these ultra realistic modern air combat simulators because of the existence of beyond-visual-range weapons. However, once I tried the game out after numerous tutorials I found out it's still fun and challenging since you have to use the weapons under your own decision. It's kinda like how FPS games are still fun, even though they use guns. It's just that instead of guns, there are BVR weapons Share this post Link to post
F15pilotX 4 Posted August 16, 2005 Wow, we've gotten WAY off topic...I had to look to see what the title was cause I forgot it w/all the AC talk Share this post Link to post
Guest MadBadger Posted August 16, 2005 well you do have the long range AA missiles but you got to earn them. Share this post Link to post
Gaizokubanou 0 Posted August 16, 2005 Yeah I know they exist in AC5 to certain extent, like the one with circle for aiming and XMAA or something like that with quad lock-on feature, but they are... too arcadish to truly appreciate what BVR combat is all about And the missiles are way too easy to avoid in AC5. However, most people will probably find such simplicity much more easier to enjoy. Also the radar in AC series is super user friendly. I mean it even tells you the health condition of your enemies! Guest MadBadger Posted August 17, 2005 question.... sure ive asked this before... Is there a modder/addmin for the RA3 forum? i sure as hell havent seen one. You also have the QAAM (quick air to air missile) that ones cool follows your target even if the targets behind you. Share this post Link to post
Gaizokubanou 0 Posted August 18, 2005 You also have the QAAM (quick air to air missile) that ones cool follows your target even if the targets behind you. Yeah but I was mentioning long range aa missiles, I think that one only locks on after 5500ft range or so, same range as the regular missles. Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted August 18, 2005 In Ace4 the EF-2000 has Long range missiles that are very effective (Megalith mission, 1 shot, 4 missiles, 4 kills on Yellow squadron) (Stonehedge mission, one shot, instant yellow kill, mission success) I just beat Opperation Bunkershot in Ace4 on hard in the SU-37 (long range ground attack missiles) and got an S. Working for the X-02A Stealth unfortuneatley, the game is at my friends house, so I get limited time on it   BTW I dont think this topic should be locked for talking abotu Air-to-air combat. It called "Dogfight" after all (the topic) Share this post Link to post

Cygnus X-1 12 Posted September 1, 2005 X-02A stealth with lasers ORCA fighters to replace helis Share this post Link to post
Guest MadBadger Posted September 1, 2005 hrrrmmm the ARC bird could be the GDI/Allied SW like a prototype ion cannon platform.... Share this post Link to post
F15pilotX 4 Posted September 4, 2005 X-02A stealth with lasers ORCA fighters to replace helis Now THAT's what I'm talking about Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted September 10, 2005 um....i disagree Xwings are faster, more manuverable, and can go in space to protect philly and they have unlimited Lasers, where as Oracs have like 6 missiles Share this post Link to post
Mr_Lee_ 0 Posted September 10, 2005 In terms of general tactical versatiliy, the Orcas are better hands down. This combined with something like a heavy bomber and you've got...GDI in Tiberian dawn. I think the Orcas have the ability to be the most versatile weapon in any RTS game. Upgrade them to be 'bomber' 'fighter' or 'Ground attack unit' and we're onto a winner. Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted September 10, 2005 how exactly are Oracs better hands donw form a tactical viewpoint ?? Not that Im slamming Oracs, but Xwings can do everythign Oracs can, plus XWings have shiled, unlmiited laser ammo, and are spaceworthy. Share this post Link to post
Mr_Lee_ 0 Posted September 12, 2005 Orca technology in general means that they have the ability to hover inj mid air, and that they are capable of space fighting. You say X-Wings are faster but I believe thats goibng ot be an issue of contention because thye Orcas speed on TD was mighty fast whereas the larger, heavier X-wing was only very slow on the games. In the films I'd say it was going as fast as an Orca. Share this post Link to post
