Map Editing - Auto alocate buildings to players?

Right.

 

I have a fair knowledge of editing RA2 (both ini files and TibEd) and can make some good maps for mods.

 

However I teach myself what I know and using the coding from the ini files and alot of the time editing something in TibEd then copying the ini rules to FinalAlert

 

However i played a map online the other day (far to complex - every 5 mins 1000's of a selected troop attacked evryone and we had to last 2 hours - and you start owning a nuke power, spy sat and oil d. Since then I have downloaded a few maps and played them and they to have managed this

 

I was just wondering how to edit the ini files inside final alert to make this possible??

If i could have 1 example for making a power plant owned by player 1 then im sure i can manage the rest

 

p.s. sorry for the long post, just wanted to explain myself clearly

wen in final alert 2 got to open and on the map (only on your mod- mod only if a nother map) RIGHT click not left but right on the map u want and go to "open with" and open with wordpad. then u can edit anything u want and never u TibEd just so u know. i thought it waz good until i figured out how to use wordpad. heres an example for unlimited cash on the map

 

[CAOILD]

ProduceCashStartup=999999

Produce Cash=999999999

 

or something like that so just use wordpad and be more clear on wut u want to edit

wut do u mean power plant owned by player 1???

like start out with one or something???????????

yeah, basically

 

i.e. i put a power plant next to start position 1, so who ever starts at pos. 1 will automatically start with/own that power plant.

 

If you know using final alert or using word pad editing the ini file for the map would be great shirmy

 

I neva use tib ed n e way. i neva edit the actual ini files coz im always playi online. however my aim is to make a realistic lokin city map for 8 players and use the ini file for the map (will use word pad) to make the mods so its only the map that has the mods, almost like a new ra2 for the map

 

i use tibed for the complicated changes and adding new units just to gget some of the code im unsure about to stop maistakes being made

 

re: wrdpad edit - thanks for that, gonna make it so much easier to add and edit units.

fyi its ProduceCashAmunt=99999 just to let ya know (i think :S)

In one old thread I gave an idea for adding voice triggers.

But in your case you can use that power plant idea. If your using Tibed it will only alter unit changes and not map triggers. But you can transfer those changed to WordPad form and upload them to finalalert.

 

Simply create a neutral powerplant near the starting point of a player.

Create a trigger that gives that power plant to the starting player.

-the trigger for this can be "any"

-the action would be "give to player x"

In Final Alert double click on the neutral power plant and give it this new trigger.

Now save and play.

That neutral power plant should now be in control of the player.
