Sonic 293 Posted April 5, 2006 Firefox, Mozilla's free open-source Web browser, gained enough users in March to grab 10% of the web browser market. In other words more people took the time to make their computers more secure and safer by not using Internet Explorer. Here are CNCNZ.com we endorse Firefox and recommend people make the switch from Internet Explorer. It only takes a few minutes to download and install, and if you switch now you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner. Our tracking stats says about 60% of visitors to CNCNZ.com still use Internet Explorer, that figure has changed over the past 2 years, it used to be up around 80%. So if your still stuck with that aging IE6 browser give the more modern Firefox browser a test run. Trust me you will like it! Share this post Link to post

Saracen 16 Posted April 5, 2006 **Looks up IP Address** Want me to show you the security benefits? Only kidding, but you must realise that IE is a Virus and Spyware magnet. Plus it has more exploits and loopholes than any other browser available. And since IE is intergrated into the Windows Kernal, if IE messes up, there's a likelihood of Windows suffering in some way as well. I could write a list of the top 101 benefits FireFox has over IE. But I don't have the time to do that. Rocky V is on Sky One very soon  Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted April 5, 2006 I plan to go back to IE when I get my new computer. I know how to keep myself from being overrun by pests with tools like Pest Patrol and Norton AntiVirus Corporate. Firefox is great and all but it's really just another browser. :| Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted April 5, 2006 but why bother with all the extras? I've been using Firefox since the summer before last, and I dont plan on getting rid of it anytime soon. Ive never had any problems with it, unlike IE, and after being stuck with Safari (and IE for Mac when that fails) at school all day, this is a welcome change. Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted April 5, 2006 ...I still maintain that Opera is the best out there  But yeah, that is REALLY an impressive accomplishment. 10 percent of the market is a huge landmark. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted April 5, 2006 Whilst I prefer Firefox. IE is a perfectly fine browser. Its just over IE bashing that causes it to have a bad rep. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 293 Posted April 6, 2006 Tabbed browsing people, does IE have tabs? No.... well ok IE7 does but that is still in beta release. When IE7 becomes final I will check it out but Firefox is number one (for now). ...I still maintain that Opera is the best out there  I have Opera installed, its actually pretty damn good. But I really only have installed for testing purposes.... testing what you say? How does a future new layout for CNCNZ.com sound 8) Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted April 6, 2006 I like firefox's favorties setup mych better than IE, and the google search bar is a godsend plus no crappy addons with every other product like there is with ie. Share this post Link to post
Inferno 22 Posted April 7, 2006  Google search bar is also installable with IE. It takes about 1 minute. Second, I think the selecting (you know, in the adress bar) is far more annoying than with IE. So what, it's a little faster, who cares. IE is fine. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 293 Posted April 7, 2006 IE's page rendering is slow and old. The core of IE hasn't been updated for years. Firefox is faster at rendering pages, it displays the page as the data downloads while IE waits untill it has it all before displaying anything. Firefox does take awhile longer to load after you first boot into Windows though, but its not really that long. If anyone hasn't tried it with their Firefox, here's how to make it faster: http://forums.cncnz.com/viewtopic.php?p=69826#69826 Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted April 8, 2006 I think mine's fine. And no matter what people say about the features of both IE and Firefox, you still cant argue the fact that IE is a VDS whilst FF isnt. 8) Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 6 Posted April 8, 2006 I like Firefox cause of the RSS feed thing, and thats the only reason. Sure, IE is a virus and spyware magnet, but its because people are retarded and go to places they shouldn't. Share this post Link to post
Koen 2 Posted April 8, 2006 Here is another Opera fan About the Google toolbar... if you use Opera then you don't need one Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted April 9, 2006 Opera rocks. It's a proven scientific fact  Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted April 9, 2006 Sorry to burst your bubble, but Opera sucks. I tried it, wasn't impressed. Nothing really stood out about it. Firefox > Opera - proven scientific fact. Share this post Link to post

Dr. Rodney McKay 0 Posted April 10, 2006 In my opinion, IE works just as well as FF. Of course, I also prefer Tiny Tim over Megadeth so my opinion isn't really credible. Share this post Link to post
