Saracen 16 Posted January 12, 2007 Not really. I hated Far Cry, I thought it was boring. Now this game has next gen graphical capability and the hype is based upon the previous game and the visuals alone. Unless the average Joe can buy Vista and buy a huge waste of money video card that supports DX10, plus the gaming rig to support it, this game will look nothing like it's seen here. Advanced Graphics tick me off now. Things are moving too fast, we need high definition this, powerful that, and some of us are lucky if we can keep up at all these days. Graphics are nothing without the rest of the package. I dunno, I'm a retro guy. Games that lie in the past in the form of classics will always be better than anything coming out in the near future. All I know is that the gaming industry needs to slow down and lok at the quality of the game as a whole than just how many pixels they can cram into a high definition image, and pushing the capabilities of systems that most of us cannot afford. Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 6 Posted January 12, 2007 Sorry King but if you watch the videos the game just isn't beatiful, its also great gameplay. The AI reacts great and the idea for the "nano" suit is sweet. Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted January 12, 2007 Sorry King but if you watch the videos the game just isn't beautiful. I see you're kinda agreeing to my statement then. Don't you mean "isn't just" Share this post Link to post

I recently had to upgrade to a completely new computer because the new one couldnt run most games that were out. So just like a new gaming console, you have to upgrade your computer about every 3 years or it will run pretty badly against current games. (BTW, I am not dissing TW at all.) Saracen 16 Posted January 13, 2007 Funny, I bought my comp 5 years ago and it's still at the same spec as it was in september 2002. It will still run Tiberium Wars! Even if it's classed as being 100% low-end now, it'll just about manage it. Thank god I get paid twice in March, that's a whole month's wages to do what the hell I want. Haven't decided whether I'll just upgrade or just build a whole new rig. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 294 Posted January 13, 2007 Crysis looks damn impressive but isn't Windows Vista only? Thank god I get paid twice in March, that's a whole month's wages to do what the hell I want. Haven't decided whether I'll just upgrade or just build a whole new rig. Your upgrade path will be determined by what ever you have now. You will find your motherboard will be to old to take a new CPU, you need a PCI Express slot for the latest video card and so on.... going down the complete rebuild path is probably the best option. rEdaSbLood 1 Posted January 14, 2007 i totally agree that the gaming industry is going excessively fast in terms of graphics and the like.. King, you're right.. it seems that every game coming out is another PC eater... my friend was telling me about PS3 and HDMI, and how the quality of the games is crappy without HDMI...i may b excluding details but you all get the point....TOO FAST Share this post Link to post

That's exactly what I found out...I got my pc right before the athlon 64 came out, so my motherboard can only use Athlon XP's....I hope it will play C&C3, but I'm going to have to replace my processor and motherboard, so basically I'm getting a new pc Of course, a car takes priority, so I don't know when I'll be able to upgrade =/ Share this post Link to post
Guest Auronguardian Posted January 15, 2007 I think the think the thing that seems to be coming out a scary rate are Graphic Cards. Just last year the 7 series came out with great graphics and everyone was talking about getting such a great card.Yet just a few days ago, the 8800 was announced, making it the "new cool card" This is why I am a console player X.x Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted January 15, 2007 I think developers of PC games also have a hard time trying to develop for an ever shifting PC market. With the huge range of power and hardware, the whole nuts and bolts of a game has to be done right. It's certainly a process that requires careful research and testing, especially with new game engines and such. This is why once I have the new specs for a high end system drawn up, I'll probably try and keep upgrading around the mid range at least as often as possible from now on. Otherwise it's gonna keep costing me large chunks in longer periods when I don't have the cash to part with. Share this post Link to post
