starcraft series sort of a spin off of aliens & predator

Recommended Posts

ive noticed that the starcraft universe is VERY VERY similer tot he predators, humans, and aliens VERY such like alien vs predator

ill give my reasons why

aliens are quite similer to zerg only its more of a advanced race and dont require hosts, not only that but they are quite similer even zerglings seem like runners of the aliens, and hyrdas are drones...

protoss seem to be just like predators only more advanced, no mouth and are pretty muchthe most supirior race and they always fight zer(as predators hunted aliens)

Humans of course face both of them and sometimes team up with protoss as humans sometimes sided with predators

and they all fight each other.

i believe they got alot of the ideas from stuff like alien vs predators(sounds better like that) and with humans going back and forth too. Only the redisgned them and such. if you know alot about aliens, predators and humans in alien vs predator predator and know pretty much all about each race its pretty much VERY alike includinf sense only 3 races fight each other... just like starcraft....

if you guys love the aliens, predators and alien vs predator series then you should know what im talking about...

i think they might have gotten inspired by this series took some ideas ALOT and remade them into there own, im not saying they stole or anything but i think they were inspired by that series and started a new one similer but different

what do you guys think?

Haven't played StarCraft in years but I do recall some of the unit responses being direct rip offs from the Aliens movie.

BTW, punwisp why come to C&C site and discuss StarCraft/Blizzard games? Seems a bit strange to me.

Well yeah your right, you can talk about Starcraft, this the gaming discussion forum of course. But you might get a better conversation going on actual fan sites based on Starcraft ;)

Discuss it if you feel you need to.

Gundam Century bit odd. Human Federation & Zeon as Terran & Protoss skins are ok. but Zerg? ok..just Zerg

well, i'm talking about the difference in SC: Gundam Century.

do you played that? some sort of mod i think.

since i'm of topic, i'll tell you what.

if they making some sort of World of Starcraft, i still can imagine it how it will be. i dont think it will limited to Marine, Firebat, Ghost & Medic.

In my opinion, Starcraft is more of a Warhammer 40k rip off... Space Marines for Terrans which are influenced by the Imperium's Space Marines in Warhammer 40k, the Zerg in general are almost Tyranid, the Protoss are like a combination of Eldar and Tau in some ways, everyone's killing each other just like in Warhammer 40k, etc.... Blizzard's staff are not really copycats at all; they just love Warhammer 40k, in my opinion, and they give tribute to the god of all futuristic war sci-fi games, up to Warcraft even, most visible in the Undead Crypt Lord's extreme similarities to the Tyranid's Tyrant Guard...

hmm good observation, they may have gotten ideas from that but i still think its mroe similer to what im talking about, including sense theres only 3 factions

warhammer 40 k dawn of war has about 8 factions(only 7 have been shown, tyranoid)

Warhammer 40k Dawn of War has 7 factions indeed, but the tabletop universe has 11 factions overall and are as follows:

  • Chaos Marines

[*]Daemonhunters

[*]Dark Eldar

[*]Eldar

[*]Imperial Guard

[*]Necrons

[*]Orks

[*]Space Marines

[*]Tau Empire

[*]Tyranids

[*]Witch Hunters

I can imagine Dawn of War 2 (if ever announced) would incorporate the remaining 4 factions.

But back on topic. Every game on this entire planet has taken it's inspiration from references somewhere. To be honest if we created a thread for every game which held inspiration to something, this forum would be 10 times busier than Open Discussion :P

lol, actualy the company of warhamer 40 k said they were never going to put in tyranoid in the dawn of war series, dont know why though, anyway your right. alot of theses movies and games do give pple ideas

That's because naive idiots will think that the Tyranids are a copy of the Zerg, when it's the whole way round.

That's the point. But that view is wrong; in fact, it is exactly the opposite. Even Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne's new Undead hero, the Crypt Lord, is an almost exact replica of the Tyranid's Tyrant Guard from the Warhammer 40k universe...

actually that guard is very similer to multiple different movie creatures and games, not just warhammer. and they didnt add it cus it would relate to starcraft too much. i doubt they got most of there ideas from dawn of war though, sense starcraft came years before dawn of war and possibly the warhammer

Dawn Of War came after Starcraft, but the tabletop game showcasing the famous Space Marines, Eldar, etc. came way before Starcraft. And you can go to the Warhammer 40,000 website and take a look at the Tyrant Guard picture and compare it to the the Crypt Lord... Notice the claws, carapace, etc... Up to the mouth, and you will understand that Blizzard draws much of it's inspiration from Games Workshop tabletop games, like the Orcs, which are similar to the Warhammer (not 40k) Orks, etc... But still, Blizzard is an excellent developer...

copy there..a little bit here..somewhat this.... & hey presto..brand new game.

as long as they deliver good game, fine by me...

Good point. Take a look at all the movies Quentin Tarantino made. Most of them copied from older movies in terms of shot angles, etc... And yet they look like homages to us, and that exactly is what Blizzard does in it's games... And I mean that in a congratulatory way.
