I demand you all to ignore those other crappy threads in this forum and head over to wherever it is that you go to look at pretty videos and watch the gameplay and E3 trailer for MGS4.

Your's truly is a huge MGS fan. I can't wait for this game. It's my favorite series, so I'm willing to pay for the PS3 just to play it (it's why I bought the PS2 initially too lol).

I'll probably buy this game when the price goes down. But to be honest MGS hasn't been a huge favourite of mine MGS was average, MGS 2 was good but not enough Solid Snake, and MGS 3 just bored the hell outta me. So I'm not getting too excited.

MGS is awesome, always has been and always will be awesome. You have to actually play through the Metal Gear games to appreciate them though. It's not a game you can pick up in the middle of. I know a lot of people who were confused out of their mind when they played Metal Gear Solid 2 because they hadn't played Metal Gear Solid or the original Metal Gears. The same goes for MGS3.

I loved it because it was innovative and creative. It was something new and added an element to the game that made the game a little more challenging.

You must have got shot a lot, sure it was new and creative, but I feel it detracted from the gameplay. Having to effectively stop and patch up your wounds. It would have been nice to see a physical change in BB behaviour when you got hurt and didn't treat it. But meh....

You did... it slowed you down and you bled (depending on what injury you sustained)

Yes, the whole point of the first-aid system as well as the fatigue system was to reinforce the theme of survival and the fact that you were in a jungle. Aside from highlighting a few plot points as well, it actually did serve a purpose in game. If you were tired or injured, it would effect Snake's overall performance. He might slow down, he would bleed (thus losing health), or it can effect his ability to fire weapons accurately.

i read somewhere that the theme gonna be "no where to hide".. so this not gonna be like previous MGS.

 

i saw the trailer. dunno who gonna kill who between Raiden & Vamp.

 

i got question, why Meryl still alive...in MGS1 she's dead. well, you gotta fight your way out, not to give in. hehehee

Yeah. Rather than "being a ghost" which was the typical style of gameplay in the previous games, you'll be hiding in a different way. It'll be a combination of stealth and blending in with various armies. Instead of a military base, you're sneaking around in a war.

Metal Gear Solid had 2 endings. Depending on whether or not you gave in to Ocelot's torture, you either get the sad ending where Meryl dies and Otacon lives or you get the happy ending where Meryl and Otacon both survive. The ideal (and apparently canonical) ending was that Meryl survived. Therefore she is still alive for Metal Gear Solid 4 as the leader of Foxhound.

 

Also, for you MGS3, someone very interesting is making her appearance in Metal Gear Solid 4.

Maybe (I haven't played through all of it). She's also a character from Metal Gear Solid 3. So no... they're not putting a character from C&C:Renegade into Metal Gear Solid 4....

I have bumped this because I have FINALLY played this game.

 

And maybe its because I'm a bit older but this game felt like previous ones, but it was so so. I usually love the story in games and would wish they'd add more. In this case I must disagree, MGS4 PREECHS FAR TO MUCH. I actually got annoyed towards the end with the amount of cutscenes and POINTLESS DIALOG. I mean seriously.

 

So in comparison with previous MGS I'd have to give this a 7/10. I enjoyed MGS3 Snake Eater a lot more than this. Eh, hopefully they decided to make a new one. Even though they said they wouldn't. (Though they said that about MGS2 and MGS3 :P)

snake eater bored the hell outta me. The whole jungle thing, and the fact it was big boss you were controlling and not the real snake bothered me some. The again I said that in July.

 

But MGS4 wasn't too bad. As a cinematic experience anyway. It did deliver the story tie ups and answered questions, so it was enjoyable in that respect.
