Avist Torch 0 Posted September 10, 2007 Exactly; an explanation would also work, although it wouldn't be as good. However, they'd have to either show it or mention that it was done. Doing neither would leave a large, gaping plot hole. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted September 10, 2007 Doing neither would leave a large, gaping plot hole. But everybody loves plot holes. ;p Share this post Link to post
Mighty BOB! 5 Posted September 11, 2007 Bob: Hate for everything EA did? That's not exactly what I said. I don't like what they've done with Tiberium or the technology in TW or the complete absence of continuations of CABAL or other important story points from TS. I would prefer something between TW and TS but it's pointless to argue that now. We can hope that KW fixes these holes, but as I and others have said, it is really hit or miss (mostly miss it would seem) with EA. And at this point it could be too late to get a good connection to Firestorm in KW because of the development cycle. Share this post Link to post

Speaking of development, didn't APOC say about a month ago that the music development in KW hadn't started yet? Share this post Link to post
Azrael 0 Posted September 12, 2007 Good. The means they might still be able to coax Frank Klepacki to be the "DJ" of Kane's Wrath... The would increase my gameplay speed, as I won't need to use iTunes to make up for the rather "bland" music C&C3 had! Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted September 12, 2007 Well the Tacitus did provide them with something to fight back against the tiberium taking over at the end of FS. Maybe whatever they did caused mutation in tiberium instead of wiping it out. Exactly; an explanation would also work, although it wouldn't be as good. However, they'd have to either show it or mention that it was done. Doing neither would leave a large, gaping plot hole. Which conceivably means they could start the whole shebang with a runaway experiment gone wrong in the first CGI movie, and the first mission would start with the 'new' tiberium crystal. y'know, I never even considered that EA *could* go to some trouble and try to recreate archived assets. I was expecting like some tibsun missions where there were old c&c bases in the background. Basically the old story with existing units. It probably wouldn't take too long to reskin the existing units to look like tibsun... but would they? Good luck Avist! -gben Share this post Link to post

The would increase my gameplay speed, as I won't need to use iTunes to make up for the rather "bland" music C&C3 had! I doubt they'll be able to hire Klepacki, since he's at Petroglyph right now, but some have called for them to use Jarrid Mendelson for the music (he worked with Frank to create Tiberian Sun's music and did the Ordos music for Emperor: Battle for Dune). Speaking of which, didn't APOC say there'd be a Kane's Wrath "media blitz" this month? Share this post Link to post

hagren 0 Posted September 13, 2007 Bob: Thats why i asked I like most of the changes theyve made, and nearly all i can comprehend, while theyre not to well and detailedly explained- Not that this was really different with WW. Cabals absence? Perhaps they wanted to make it (him) more mystical, perhaps they didnt like it. Could understand that. TS was very 80s sci-fi, and time moves on. Of course, with a new design sheme, they could have pulled it off. Alas, the Scrin are somewhat in stead of both mutants and Cabal. Tiberium? The change was sudden, and quite different, but the same happened between TD and TS. What is fishy in the whole thing is that its simply not consistent. I dig both versions, however. If only itd spread more vigorously. Tech? I fully and wholeheartedly comprehend why the tech advanced and took a step back at the same time. It was integrated into (and part of) the story and very well explained, imho. The focus lied on different tech, or even completely out of warmachinery. Of course, i miss some more mechs, but other devoid stuff they bring back in KW, which satisfies me on a very high level, as the completely new units as well. But i concur, since they intend to build a bridge between the two games, which should translate into a seamless and extremely detailed plotholefilling. Azrael: I had a conversation with Klepacki about that. He said that he would be delighted to do it, but because theres history with the two parties, its uncertain if he could aid EA even if he had time. Gben: EA wont, im sure about that. While it would really be cool and benefit both us and them, EA doesnt give the devs enough time, and its not TS anyway. Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted September 15, 2007 TS was very 80s sci-fi I like that description. very apt. -gben Share this post Link to post
Mighty BOB! 5 Posted September 16, 2007 I can understand everything they did, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. TBH I would have preferred Incursion. Share this post Link to post
hagren 0 Posted September 16, 2007 Of course it does not mean you have to like it Well, i wouldnt have, but its about preference, isnt it? WW Scrin are not my taste, and it reminds me too much of Generals, which i dont particularly like. Share this post Link to post
rEdaSbLood 1 Posted September 16, 2007 im really interested in the scrin..i wonder how they are going to make them look...like a scrin person..and just the whole story Share this post Link to post
Azrael 0 Posted September 17, 2007 Well, maybe it would be a bit like the Forgotten... I mean, the Scrin are Tiberium-based life forms, and the Forgotten are somewhat Tiberium-based due to their mutations... Also, the whole story arc might be ended in C&C 4... If that's what EA wants, or maybe they decided to put everything in Kane's Wrath to finish the Tiberium Arc of C&C, and then focus on connecting the Red Alert Arc with the Tiberium Arc with Red Alert 3, so that probably would spell the end of the C&C story as we know it. But I hope they somehow lengthen it, I don't want the fun with C&C to end, not yet... Also, I think Frank Klepacki does have the time, after all, they already gave us a taste of Universe At War: Earth Assault's soundtrack so probably Frank finished it already... Maybe the execs and Microsoft, Sega and Petroglyph don't want him to go off and aid EA while they still haven't finished the whole UaW game... But maybe Jarrid Mandelson would do a nice job as well, we'll just have to see if he can deliver somehow the way Frank did for us before... In a nutshell, we'll have to wait, because patience is a virtue. Share this post Link to post
hagren 0 Posted September 17, 2007 I also suspect something akin to your theory. Altough i think they milk out the franchise a lot longer- Notice how Vessela said "First EP"? They would be stupid throwing it out- Of course, if the ending would be satisfying, understandable and with no question left unanswered, why not? Sure, i love CnC3, but who knows, maybe it gets dry some day? Frank wouldnt refuse to work for EA because he has no time, but because hes a Petro member, and EA is EA. Share this post Link to post
Mighty BOB! 5 Posted September 17, 2007 milk *Cheesy announcer voice* Coming summer 2009! C&C5: Yuri's Revenge 2! He's out of the psychic prison and wants revenge... again! Share this post Link to post
rEdaSbLood 1 Posted September 17, 2007 yuri supposedly got eaten by a t-rex, so its unlikely he will return. @azrael: they wouldn't be much like the forgotten because the forgotten are earth-based life. the scrin are much more mysterious so their design would have to be other-worldly to make sense. otherwise if it was similar to the forgotten it would make room for more interesting plot. you know? well IMO i dont think the tiberium universe could get dry. its a universe that has a lot of potential. they could take the plot so many ways; the story is pretty versatile if you think about it. Azrael 0 Posted September 21, 2007 A Planetside-like MMO FPS based on C&C would be quite nice. After all, who doesn't want to be a Zone Trooper packing a Rail Gun and Jet Packing all over an area? Also, my mistake, what I meant was that the Scrin would probably be, in a way, with some kind of Tiberium crystals or something on their bodies, twisted and parched flesh as skin, etc., assuming that Tiberium "absorbs minerals, etc." from anything it is attached on, e.g. soil, skin, etc. Share this post Link to post
spark 0 Posted September 22, 2007 Actually, I think that the designs for C&C3 and Tiberian Sun doesn't really connect well. Tiberian Sun looks futuristic but Tiberium Wars looks like Advanced Tiberian Dawn though... How to connect the story and the technologies are really hard, anyway, I am anticipating KW already... Did EA hint at a Red Alert 3? Maybe, they are going to pull a Generals 2? *No...* Share this post Link to post
hagren 0 Posted September 22, 2007 Really? I always thought that TD looked realistic, TS 80s scifi and TW 21st century SciFi mixed with a hint of TD. Share this post Link to post
Azrael 0 Posted September 23, 2007 Well, in Kane's Wrath C&C3 might revert slightly to the alien-like world we saw in TS... Share this post Link to post
rEdaSbLood 1 Posted September 23, 2007 first it will (as it should) be a mix of TS and TW sci-fi, then its back to just TW, then its TW:KW..... 8) duh Share this post Link to post
