  1. Just to recap: Your Tiberian Dawn savegames can't be loaded anymore after updating from 1.03rev2 to 1.03rev4. As long as you didn't create the savegames using the DOS version and tried to load them with the Windows version or vice versa, it should work after reinstalling the game. You are using the Red Alert icon for this thread. Did you mean Red Alert? I know the error message you mentioned from RA. The text "(Old)" is prepended automatically by the game (just like (Allied) and (Soviet)). The game cannot read them any more because it can only read savegames created with the same game version. I could not find just the changelog of 1.03rev4 to see what was changed since 1.03rev2. Maybe the 3.03 beta patch was added between these releases, I don't know. If there's a new "4 Player Internet" logo on the lower right hand side of the main menu that wasn't there before, it is 3.03. This would explain why the savegames don't work. In that case, reinstalling with rev2 and backing up the RA folder before applying rev4 should fix your problem. Just run RA from the backed up folder.

    Help requested

Most likely it's the driver of your graphics card. See here. Try updating your drivers, maybe the bug is already fixed in the latest package.
  3. And about that manual... you got someone to translate it to German already?

    AI Cheats

Hm, did you fill the fields properly, that is, with the values from the linked "How To" post? And indeed, I forgot about a recent change so anons can't post any more...

Go to the Ares tracker (optionally register there). Then click "Report issue" in the header navigation. Here is a post on how to file a proper feature request.

IIRC the game calculates the build speed by the formula SpeedFactory = MultipleFactory ^ (Factories-1) 1.00, 0.80, 0.64, 0.512, 0.4096, ... thus, 125%. a third one would result in 156,25%. This should apply for every player, AI and human. The only thing AllowParallelAIQueues= changes is the spawning of the units in multiple factories. There once was a proposal to add some flags (issue #953). It didn't have many supporters and thus was suspeded for now. You may vote on the tracker to show your support or comment on the issue.
  7. After installing the new version, it's working for me. One small thing, though: I played the CO: Blackout mission and I can build something called "Ausbau" ("Upgrade") from the weapons factory. It is an invisible unit, costing $800. Can confirm there's something called "Tiberium" in CO: Cloak and Dagger, too, along with the "Upgrade".

I think it's rather 125% speed, if MultipleFactory=0.8 is set.

Hi Nmenth, the AI will only pay for a tank once and still get one from every weapons factory. Ares disables that behavior by default, thus AI players will build by the same logic as human players. This change can be reverted with the AllowParallelAIQueues= tag. I'm not aware of any other setting to speed up AI base building or unit production.

    1.06c development topic

Nice work! Indeed, the manual is quite long... Btw, it still mentions "Release date: ??".
  11. As I don't know its true size, i'd gladly translate that.

    Campaign for lost source code

Yeah, it should. As long as the changes aren't just optical, it's impossible to not cause a desync. Full compatibility would mean bugs like the enemy harvester guard mode exploit couldn't be fixed.

    Campaign for lost source code

Hi all! What is a game patch? What does tell it apart from Ares? Ares fixes crashes/bugs in the original game like the memory leak the Genetic Mutator causes when trying to mutate infantry sitting on walls. It enables unused stuff in the original game like the animated Paradrop and Chronosphere mouse cursors. It improves performance on Windows Vista/7 and enables higher resolutions. Of course the focus is shifted to re-enabling features from previous games and adding new ones for modders, but bugfixes to problems in the original game aren't just ignored. You can use Ares without any mods and you can take advantage of all the fixes and the faster rendering.
