best combo is a Crazy Ivan in an IFV. (best when you partner is allied and you are soviet or vise versa) drive them up to a group of tanks/prisms/choppers and they eat them up. drive in 2 or more at a time for the most damage.

yea i have had good luck but lately things have been flakey.. i'd rather have a solid system with no chat than a bad system with chat.

I am thinking of putting together a complete guide to Yuri's Revenge from a multiplayer standpoint. everything from joining games correctly (yes people DO mess this up LOL) to units vs units, etc. Is there anything online like that now? and if not, would there be an interest?

thanks for the feedback. yes it IS late .. .BUT... with xwis taking over there seem to be a lot of people online lately playing yuris. there is a huge hatred towards new players and to be honest i sorta want to help them out... i just got a new job so when i get some free time in a week or 2 i will get this online.

i understand the article, but you still need to know how to defend against various rushes and attacks. they are going to happen whether or not there is an article against them. ! lol.. this is why i may do a guide to YR online: http://forums.cncnz.com/viewtopic.php?t=4216 people are still confused about what a rush is, courtesy rules, etc.

been trying to get fraps to work with yuris. i have tested fraps with other games (dod:s, etc) and it works fine. but, when i play yuris with fraps on, or alt-tab out and start fraps in the middle of the game, the game crashes. anybody have any ideas? [[[ for the uniformed fraps is a video and screenshot capture program ]]]

i see air rushes, particularly rocketeer rushes a LOT less lately. usually one player on the team is iraq so there is plenty of flak. also, flak bfs are really good. load one up with 5 flak troops and use in your mix of tanks that you are rushing with. air rushes shouldnt surprise you because you can hear large groups of rocketeers/girovs/choppers gathering. just hover over the map various places.

yes it records whats on your screen... http://www.fraps.com a lot of people use it. i am just wondering if anybody has had any luck with yuris using it.

so now that xwis is the default server (they changed it a few days early) what do you all think? having chat back is great. games seem to run fine and i havent run into a cheater yet.. !

FINALLY THIS IS AWESOME NEWS... i am an avid Yuri's revenge player since its release and i was about to CAN the entire thing because of how bad its gotten online.. ! woo!!!!!!

I have been playing yuri's revenge since its release in 2001. It's a HIGHLY addictive game with many chess-like qualities. Over the years i have gotten quite good at the game and have been an honest player since the beginning. i find that though with this comes a HUGE amount of frustration from my opponents. When they are losing they will do ANYTHING to win. EX: - start using yuri in a no yuri game (yes, i can and sometimes do disable crates) - start using president IFVs now i can understand the temptation to use crap like this, but i am tempted myself to get the pres ifv cheat just to use as a backup IN CASE my oponents use it. what are your thoughts? should i d/l cheats just as a defense against other cheating players???? its not like westwood/EA will release a patch for the game and ever fix this.

for you regular players.. add "crutch99" and "behnfire" to your list. we play around 3 times a week...

make the forum links on the main page NOT open in new windows. its really annoying.

well i am happy to report that since creating this thread i have only lost to a cheater ONCE. every other time there was an OBVIOUS cheater i have beaten them. i am of course cheat-free. cheaters cheat because they suck. bottom line. most cant even win WITH the cheats.

is there a way to disable seeing signatures? i find most of them pretty annoying... :shock:

actually i run 3 phpbb forums one with over 80,000 posts, so yes i have been to a forum before. i was just curious as to if Sonic had a sig hack installed. thanks for your time and keep up the good work on the site....

so close yet so far.. i hate when stuff like that happens. i've been on broadband for 6 years now and i can't imagine ever using dialup ever again..

xwis is great, but 1) sometimes you can't even get a game going due to lack of people. 2) i have been accused of cheating when playing on XWIS. its VERY easy for people to think you are cheating and report you. the possibility of a legit player like myself getting banned seems very high. can you tell me more on how XWIS checks before a ban? i might just play there all the time now if people can't just get me banned because they lost.

sounds dumb, but the ifv shoots a laser twice the length of a prism tank shot. its not impossible to defend/beat but its still extremely frustrating.

some people agree on "no yuri" at the beginning of a match... but regardless of that... president IFV is a cheat. i am thinking of getting the pres IFV just in case. i really hope RA3 will rock then i will move on. generals just doesnt do it for me..

well i must say that sadly, only when the EA servers are down are a decent # of people on XWIS. its too bad really because its a great server but atm it looks like a good backup.. :cry:
