Will BfME work on 5x DVD drive instead of 8x?

Hi,

 

I just found out for my wife (she can't keep a secret about gifts! ) that she ended up buying me this game for Christmas! Now we only have a 5x DVD on this computer so I"m wondering if the game will still work? Is there an option to have basically everything copied over to your hard drive so a minimal amount is taken off the DVD so my 5x won't matter? Thanks.

I think it will be ok, like most games these days they don't actually play of the CD or DVD disc, the disc is only required as a copy protection measure. The game checks that an original disc is in the drive before it will load.

 

If your really concerned though you could buy a new DVD Rom drive, they are very cheap these days.

The game requires 3.2gb to install and does not require the DVD at all except from the start.

great, I thought it requires 8gb to install the full game to hard disk though? Either way I have plenty of space. Now I'm just wondering why the game was in Chicago, thenn went a couple hundred miles west to Iowa when the destination is INdiana!! :x USPS!!! Thanks guys.
