best drivers for GeForce FX 5200 128MB

I have Athlon XP 3000+, 256 DDR RAM, GeForce 5200 FX 5200 128MB and C&C Generals (patched to 1.7 version) works bad. I must select custom details and turn off all the options and put texture and particle slider max to the left (off) to work normaly without slowdown (but even then sometimes it slows down) and i play 1on1 in skirmish! I know that this Graphic card is no good but Athlon XP 3000+ and 256 DDR RAM shud compensate that. I tried the newest drivers, i tried 56.72, 61.77 drivers, i tried omega and starstorm...there are no difference...i'm thinking that maybe Detonators FX would be better then ForceWare maybe 45.23...Please help me, and sorry my english is bad

The problem is you don't have enough RAM. 256 simply isn't enough these days. I would add another 256 for a total of 512. Generals should run a bit better for you.

 

Windows will be eating up an fair chunk of your 256 MB RAM, thise leaves very little left for Generals to work with.

 

The GeForce 5200 FX 5200 isn't the greatest card in the world. If you can afford it upgrade your video card as well. But the extra 256 MB RAM should be your next move.

 

For the record, the spare computer that my brother uses has these specs. It handles Generals fine at 800 x 600 on medium details.....
