Open Map Competition 3 - Asking for Community Sponsorship

Have you guys ever heard of the first 2 Open Map Competitions? They were mapping competitions for Tiberian Sun (Firestorm) mappers, organized by TiberiumSun.com and PPM? The last one also counted with the support from 2 other TS sites.

 

The last OMC counted with 12 submissions, however, very high quality maps and several sites helped us by spreading news about it.

 

However, these 2 OMCs were restricted to few middle sized sites, which severily restricted the ammount of submissions and judges. What we want in the third edition is to expand it for the whole community and for new games.

 

In order to expand it to the whole community, we:

 

1) ask Chickendippers to create an Open Map Competition Organization forum here. Afterall, if we want the community to participate from it and sponsor it, there is no better place than Webbies. (Description of the forum can be something like: "Discuss And Help To Organize The Next OMC Here").

 

2) ask all sites to sponsor it. By sponsoring we mean:

 

-> Organizing the event with us.

-> Covering the news of the event in your site and forums.

-> Helping us to get good mappers to judge maps.

-> Helping us to provide prizes, even if it's a honourable mention in your site or a custom rank in your forums...

-> Linking the sections about the OMC in a featured place of your site.

-> Helping us by advertising the event and with PR.

 

Also, we'll need people to design logos and possibly a site for this competition.

 

3) We'll strive to the top quality maps. So, we'll try to provide the highest ammount of features possible for the mapper. This means that instead of mapping for Red Alert 2, people will map for Yuri's Revenge. In TS, we will be accepting Firestorm maps. If we get Zero Hour sponsors, we will also support it. We are also studying the possibility of supporting TX for Yuri's Revenge, to provide even more options for YR mappers, but this will depend on the authorization from DJBreit and Blade (authors of TX).
