Vista

Recommended Posts

Hello.

Can't seem to find this topic anywhere but if it is I apologise. Can someone please explain in very basic English for a complete idiot how you download C&C3 maps in windows Vista?

I've got a new computer with Vista although I was quite happy with XP but that's the way they come now. I have read on other sites that you go to documents and settings but I can't find a documents and settings, only documents.

I've got to be honest, I have played C&C since it very first started and have to say that this latest version is by far the worst one I have played. I won't be buying any add ons in the future. What is with this right click thing for a start? I played all the skirmish games and then got fed up of it and went back to Zero Hour which is the best of all in my humble. It took me ages to get back into left clicking.

If I don't like it why do I want to download maps you might say? Well I have often found that none official maps are more enjoyable than official maps so want to give them a try and besides, it would be a waste of 30 quid (Sterling) otherwise.

Thanks in advance.

Alan

To install maps for maps for Microsoft's over priced rip of an OS, otherwise known as Vista....

C:Users[uSERNAME]AppDataRoamingCommand & Conquer 3 Tiberium WarsmapsMAPNAME

[uSERNAME] would be your Windows user name of course. While MAPNAME[/b] would be the name of the folder that the .map and other related files are stored in.

I'll update the map pages on our site to reflect this. I forgot about Vista originally.

As for your question (bit of rant to be honest). Patch 1.05 will introduce the alternate mouse set up, meaning C&C 3 will have the option of returning to the classic mouse set up of left click for attacking orders etc...

idk about that, I am quite happy with vista, i have had 0 problems so far, unlike my windows XPro machine... that one doesn't like life for some reason.

anyway, the path that Sonic gave you is the correct path, apparently i sent him the e-mail with the information just in time for him to answer your question :-P

I've had a number of problems with it. The sound will disappear and I have to reboot quite often. Had a problem with setting it up as a home network with the other PC using XP and other minor things. If I am honest, it is probably me and my finger trouble. Not so sure about the sound thing though? Thought XP was much more user friendly myself.

Anyway, anyone in the UK want to buy a hardly used copy of C&C3? Twenty quid. I do not like it at all. I'll just have to keep playing Zero Hour until the disc wears out. :D

well with the whole sound thing, so you switch between headphones and speakers? plugs in the front as well as the back?

I have to switch it to each one when I wanna use the head phone, until i went and got a y cable so they are both pluged in the back...

Thing is with vista, Its so new thet poeple may think they are having problems where as its just the fact that everything is moved to different places they dont know that there is no problem just the person donesnt know how to set it up right.

And give CNC3 another shot after you get the new patch 1.05

its sopposed to give it left click back like in Generals.
