Help - Generals English language BIG files
Loki replied to Loki's topic in Tech Discussion & Support
Thanks for the responses. Sonic - I understand your scepticism, but I assure you this is not a pirate copy. We might have considered paying a bit extra for an English version, but unfortunately it wasn't even an option. The Korean version is playable but obviously it's hard if you can't easily read all the menu options (eg how to turn off the fricken music). Hans - oh well, we will keep trying! Thanks. Cheers -
Actually, that should be Cap'n Charlie Delta really, shouldn't it? Sorry, sir. Won't happen again. I'm off on KP for a month....

Thanks Cap'n M (and Mas'r Chief Gazza) The problem seems to be which file(s) are needed. I had another look, and realised the ones I had picked out are speech files. The speech is already all in English (unlike RA2), so I'm good with that - it's just the menus and on screen prompts. Any ideas? Thanks again, humble e-jut that I am

 Hi! I just bought Generals - awesome graphics and gameplay - even though I can't understand what the menus say....er, you see, it's all in Korean and I'm a dumb-ass mono-lingual-type-person (I looked that up in the dictionary, and it said "aka Englishman" D'oh!!) To explain - I am living in Korea for the moment, and bought the game here (less than half the price of UK or Aus). The obvious drawback being the lack of English text. I had the same problem with RA2, but that was fixed by copying the ra2_english.csf file into the right directory - this file came from the RA2StrEdit utility. Can anyone help find the English menu text for Generals:?: It would be SO nice to enjoy the whole game!! Cheers PS I don't think this post breaks any of the tech support rules does it?

Luk3us - Actually, thanks for all the suggestions - we managed it in the end. First we used the Korean upgrade, then copied the .csf file from the English upgrade, and there we go. All the .wav files are still the Korean versions, so it talks to us in Korean, but that's fine - it was more the on-screen selections we wanted in English. Made setting up the LAN a lot easier!! Cheers all

Hi again and thanks for the replies, guys. Fox - fair call - it wasn't a dodgy copy or anything, just that the bf didn't realise it was the "only Korean" version. I was only commenting on how cheap it was to say that at least we didn't blow a heap of cash. Flak - thanks for the idea - should have mentioned that we had tried that straight away but it didn't work, unfortunately... Fenring - a glimmer of hope... any chance you can point me to where I can d/l it? I did a quick google on `RA2 english string file' but didn't get anything useful... Cheers and thanks again

Hi all, Firstly, let me point out that I am in Seoul.. Today my boyfriend bought a copy of the original RA2 (v1) (dirt cheap) and unfortunately it's all in Korean!! (surprise, surprise) :?: Anyway, any chance there is a patch or something that we can use to get English commands going?? Even just English on the screen would be good, even if we have to listen to Korean .wav taunts..... H e l p ?????? :?
