Did i mention i live in the US where the drinking age is 21, i am 20 and i was 19 for most of that Got arrested for stealing Things other people might consider dumb: Im a Alcoholic, but im proud of that Ive only done like 2 illegal drugs (and like 3 legal drugs) -

lets see. "I don't know what operating system i have" -after asking what it says when the computer loads "how do i overclock" - You have a dell, you don't "whats a agp slot" - Google it damn it "Why doesn't my computer work" "whats windows update" "how do i play counter-strike" - click the mouse "do you really need a P4 system with all that power, i have a P2 200 that gets the job done" - that was like a month ago some noobs hurt my head

dude, just back everything up and format, then insall SP2 AND then install generals. My guess is that when you upgraded to pro it activated the anti-piracy features of generals. I reall think their Anti piracy is BS, because if i upgrade my computer or move the game to a different hard drive i get screwed.

Lite On, my prefered DVD maker. But do a google search for "dual layer firmware update" because some single layer burners can be flashed (new sofware on them) that makes them become dual layer check this thread out http://geek3d.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=765

And then i have a CD with just SP2 slipstreamed onto it and utilities that i use to fix peoples computers (you never know when you may need to do a fresh isntall). And if you want to know what im talking about Slipstream and Unattended Install. I do everything myself no programs do it for me, i like to know how its done. Oh and i don't download music any more.

chickendippers got it correct Ati/Nvidia or Radeon/GeForce i got my GeForce4 Ti 4200 64mb, im getting a Radeon X800XT PE which is possibly the most kick ass card that only requires 1 molex connector, or im going to wait untill the x900xt comes out or what ever ATI comes up with to replace the x800xt.

my favorite stograge medium is not listed, Internal Hard Drives. i can hook them up so fast its not even a issue. Heck i have 4 drives just sitting in a box right now, and a new SATA drive waiting to be formatted and windows installed onto it. Second are DVDs, i want to get a dual layer burner. But im going to get a x800xt PE and watercooling first. Oh and my windows install CD is on a DVD.

www.doom9.org Guides - Format Conversion - pick your guide, i recomend finding one using as much open source software as possible. -
whats the speed of the hard drives involed. Also if one is a SATA and one is a IDE drive that can make a differnece, so can if it has a 2mb or a 8mb cache
-
those sounds like artifacts to me. This is usually the result of overclocking or a bad card, getting it replaced (or upgrading to a ATI x600 or x800 xt) would be the best way to go I lvoe XP Pro, i upgraded it from 2k pro and i love it. If your formatting and reinstalling like that i would recomend learning how to slipstream hotfixes and service packs
-
im just telling all of you out there who have windows XP to install service pack 2, heres the reason why link

BS, Overclocking is awesome i have a 2.4Ghz processor that runs at 3.0Ghz running at a max of 40C with a 1000mhz FSB with 0 hardware problems. Download SP2
-
well not just your CPU and RAM, also your motherboard is holding you back majorly, it appears your motherboard only supports ATA-66, which is pretty slow, and my computers FSB is faster than your CPU, so i suggest upgrading to a 2.4-2.8GHz range processor and your PC is fast enough to handle XP, the requirements stare a min of 300 mhz
-
wow, old computer. um i don't know try some more RAM like up to 512MB if you can i think XP is recomended to have 256MB. And if your afraid of SP2 read this http://www.hardcoreware.net/reviews/review-237-1.htm
-
i have that exact same problem with my gigabyte, so turn off PME event thanks
-
can we have a forum for people like me who drink 7 nights a week
-
what are your PC stats if you dont know them download this and coppy-paste your motherboard info, CPU info, and Ram info. you know that Adaware has a new version called SE that finds more. and 1.3 of spy bot is awesome. Defragment take 2 asprin in the morning and IM me Edit: Also do you have windows XP service Pack 2 installed. And if you do decide to format slipstream service Pack 2 into it, i know it sounds hard and advanced, but its worth it and you will be smarer in the end Slipstream Guide
