Crashing problems with LoTR - Battle for Middle Earth
Hans5849 replied to triGG's topic in Tech Discussion & Support
Its a problem with the DVD version i can tell you that right now, unless its a incompatibility with AMD which it couldn't be. See if you guys can get a hold on the CD version of it and try installing with that. -
Tabbed Browsing, if you don't have XP SP2 popup blocking.

I ralized that the idea of putting ligts up in your front yard is a stoner idea, think about it in the winter its all white and theres nothing to look at, well when you look at the lights driving down the road your like oh cool. when you look at the lights stoned your like *drool. well, you sound like you know your stuff (except that AMD thing), so im going to rule out substanderd hardware. I can't really think of any problems with your system, come on now your roomie has a better card than you and his is probably a boxed system. -

Help - Generals English language BIG files
Hans5849 replied to Loki's topic in Tech Discussion & Support
if some one pirated the game they would at least try to find a version that works in their language. i would help but i don't have generals installed and i don't intend to untill i get my new hard drive. I know it will work though because for mods they swap out the files in order to make the mod compatiable with other languages -
defragment, run adaware to remove spyware (if you don't know where to d/l adaware go to google.com and search), if it still hangs up your system may not be able to go faster. the crash screen that you get happens to me a lot, i really hate it how they had to add overheatring hardware to it because i know my system temps and i know their wrong.

the multipliers have been locked on P4 for a long time. I have never heard of the socket 775 boards breaking, overclock limited to 10% yes, but never of the socket breaking. And the heat problem was fixed a long time ago, and look at the OCing possibility of the Prescott processor Overclockers Database, the average overclock is to a speed of 3.4-3.6 Ghz with a 2.8 processor. Also if you look at the benchmarks the P4 is just a tad behing the "superirior" Athlon 64/FX

apocolyp4, they would never make it to run on a 700mhz P3 it would simply give you the error your computer does not meet the system requirements. Look at the requirements for Half Life 2 Required Operating System: Windows 98/ME/2000/XP Processor: 1.2 Ghz processor RAM: 256 MB of RAM Video Card: DirectX 7 compatible graphics card And that game can run on just about any computer.

ok, don't get aitnel board get a Abit or a Asus, i had a gigabyte not getting another. If you are overclocking get the 875P motherboards (Socket 478) they overclock better than the newer ones and the ram is cheaper. You can get a case a lot cheaper than that with all those features. Don't get the old craptastic video card. Your ram is under powered. If your going to get good speakers onboard audio sucks. If your going to get that hard drive, get the SATA one for a few bucks more it will improve your preformance some. your also going to need good cooling. And for overclocking you need a good Power supply (the ones they give you with the cases are crap). hers my suggestions P4 2.8E/3.0E Abit/Asus 875P Motherboard Chieftech Case Nvidia 6600GT/6800 GT (6800 is the better one) or a Ati radeon X800Pro/X800XT Kingston HyperX/Corsair XMS DDR 400 (PC 3200) 512+MB Audigy 2 ZS (pain jane) Western Digital 160GB 7200RPM SATA Zalman CNPS 7000B Power Supply round up i recomend a 400W+ PSU also there are sites like Primotech and Anandtech who have reviews you might want to check out

my work here is done

you mean the 6800 GT. It depends on waht your are doing for HL2 the X800XT is a whole lot faster, but for most every other game the 6800 GT wins. its still a pretty close margin though.

hahaha, my sim would wind up with herpes and a hang over.
