Yeah the old un-install/re-install/patch routine should sort this out. This exploding unit/structure problem has been built into all C&C games since RA2 I think. Its to combat software piracy. The sad part is it affect people who have paid for their game.

Your first computer will be fine but I think the second computer will struggle. That aging TNT2 card is on the minimum supported specs for Generals. Basically that means an increased chance of getting serious Error messages.

HELP ME now PLEASE WITH MY SOUND I NEED FAST ANSWER
Sonic replied to a topic in Tech Discussion & Support
Is your sound card correctly configured in Windows. Check to see if there are any errors the Device Manager. Install the latest drivers for your sound card. Do you see the small icon on you task bar near the clock? Make sure that the sound is not set to mute. -
When the game crashes you can look at the file called ReleaseCrashInfo.txt. This file is located in the My DocumentsCommand and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data. To most people this file is rather criptic and makes no sense but it may give you clues as what cause the problem.

Good to see you back Koen. Where were you these past few weeks?

Has anyone tried searching the horrible forums on EA's Official Generals Site yet?
-
What I don't want to see is EA forcing this game onto the C&C Community. By that I mean they will probably promote this game on the Official Generals Site (before starting an official site for it) and send "community" news about it to C&C fansites like EAComMike sometimes sends out.

Ok first things first. Are you guys using the version 1.01 patch for Zero Hour? If so grab the v1.02 patch from http://www.cncnz.com/files/zero_hour/patches.shtml A few problems were fixed in the quick released. Install it and see what happens, you have nothing loose. Next thing, both the NVIDIA ForceWare v53.03 for Windows XP/2000 and the NVIDIA ForceWare v53.04 for Windows 95/98/ME have been released. You will be able to download them from http://www.cncnz.com/files/support/drivers.shtml ATI users should probably install either ATI Catalyst v3.10 Driver Suite for Windows XP/2000 or ATI Catalyst v3.10 Driver Suite for Windows 98/ME. Again this files are available from http://www.cncnz.com/files/support/drivers.shtml

Deep down everyone knows EA are simply cashing in on the LOTR craze. This LOTR rubbish will do nothing to C&C, it has nothing to with C&C, I hope EA can understand this.

What R U Listening 2 [Gothic Music Anyone?]
Sonic replied to Kingofall's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Personally I think St. Anger rocks! Its raw and heavy....its old school Metallica with a few new tricks. Perhaps if you knew what the band went through to get the album done you would appreciate it more....and understand the meaning behind some of the lyrics. And hence the name "St. Anger". -
Well someone had to start one so it might as well be me  I hope all our forum regulars have a Merry Christmas. Feel free to leave your own Christmas greetings on this thread to. Cool....I finally get to use the Santa similey

Download and install the latest NVIDIA Forceware Drivers for your video card. You will find them on http://www.cncnz.com/files/support/drivers.shtml

Glad I could help -
For the compatability settings under Windows 2000 service pack 2 or 3 must be installed. http://www.planetcnc.com has an in-depth guide.

Yeah I think Critical Impact could be on to something there. Download something like Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ or Spybot - Search & Destroy from http://www.spybot.info/ and scan system. I use both, they work great in tandem You could have something installed on your PC hogging your CPU usuage. Hit CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up the Windows Task Manager and have a look in the Processes tab for strange file names.

Generals works but Zero Hour crashes, thats what has me stumped :? If think of anything I post it here.
-
Even though you said Generals plays fine but Zero Hour crashes with this serious error. Something tells me your system is struggling to keep up. You have lot of hardware and devices there loaded on a small 300 watt power supply. Perhaps changing this to something like a 400 watt or higher PSU may help. Another option could be problems with your Zero Hour CDs. If you can, try them in other computer with Generals installed. Check for any noticable marks on the data side of each disc. Give them a clean if you need to.

c&c generals zero hour sort of slows down and crashes! h
Sonic replied to a topic in Tech Discussion & Support
Are you running any background applications? If so, shut them down before starting Generals/Zero Hour. -
I have mirrored these two alternate downloads of the Shell Map Randomizer on the CNCNZ.com downloads server: Shell Map Randomizer 1.5 with AllGusto's Shell Maps (1.8 MB) http://www.cncnz.com/downloads/track/file.php?id=273 Shell Map Randomizer 1.5 (429 KB) http://www.cncnz.com/downloads/track/file.php?id=275

Red Alert 2/Yuri's Revenge won't start-up. Please Help.
Sonic replied to a topic in Tech Discussion & Support
Completely un-install both RA2 and YR using the Add/Remove program list in your Control Panel. After the un-install is complete delete the game's folders, usually WestwoodRA2. Open the registry editor (Go to START -> RUN -> type regedit) and search for all references to RA2 and YR, remove all these keys from the registry. Reboot the system. Once rebooted install RA2 then install YR. Download the YR v1.001 patch from http://www.cncnz.com/files/yuri/patches.shtml Install that patch. Now try your game. -
How long are you playing Zero Hour until it crashes with the serious error problem? There could be to much heat being generated inside your computers case. Serious errors are caused by this. Reply back with your full system specs.
