why computer enemies dont play in unofficial skirmish maps?
Sonic replied to a topic in Tech Discussion & Support
This means the creator of the map has not set up the so AI players can be used. Its not a bug. A map like that can be used in online multiplayer games. -
This is known issue with Zero Hour and ATI video cards, Phreakly posted about it in our Generals/Zero Hour forum here: http://forums.cncnz.com/viewtopic.php?t=279

If all the people who are playing in the game have the INI mod installed you can all play without problems. If you have it installed and no one else does your version of the game will be different and you won't be able join or play online. Our Generals and Zero Hour mods download pages states this

can anyone list the hot keys for zero hour plz
Sonic replied to a topic in Tech Discussion & Support
They are listed on the back of the Zero Hour game manual. -
You could be on to something there, so perhaps re-enabling these services may help. Then again I've disabled a few so called required services on my computer without problems. If possible run the Zero Hour install on another computer (with Generals installed of course) to check that your Zero Hour CDs aren't duds. Maybe you have some sort of background app running that prevents the installation from continuing. AntiVirus etc...... Post your full system specs, it sometimes help

I'm not much help with the networking stuff. You could try either of these 2 guides.... http://www.cncnz.com/features/tech/gen_linksys_router.shtml http://www.cncnz.com/features/tech/gen_wir...mc_router.shtml They explain the port numbers Generals uses etc...

There is some info in our Tiberian Dawn section that may help you. See here http://www.cncnz.com/games/td/cov_ops.shtml although I think its mostly related to Windows 98/ME. You may be out of luck try to run the Covert Ops CD under Windows XP because Covert Ops is an old DOS application. I've never tried installing Covert Ops on Windows XP myself. Perhaps you could try Windows XP's compatability settings, using a similar approach to the handy guide found here: http://www.cncnz.com/features/tech/ccxpfix.shtml Sorry there are no patches.

You should know who our forums work luk3us. We have highs and lows. More lows than highs most of the time. Things will pick up again.

At least you gave your keyboard a good work out

Lets face it, Christmas is for kids these days.

acribb, If your keen you could try the open source DOSBox program. Just go to http://dosbox.sourceforge.net for all the information about the program. DOSBox emulates the old DOS environment allowing old DOS games to run. Worth a shot, you have nothing loose
-
You can just get that file of your Zero Hour CDs  But wait.....something tells me you didn't by the game and your missing a file from the version you downloaded. ** Topic Locked **

Yeah forget about trying to run the DOS version under WinXP or 2K. Your better off hunting around the budget software bins for a copy of C&C Gold (the Win95 version).

I've always enjoyed the Christmas period. Good food and drink (if your into that part). I don't enjoy the money side of it though. Christmas has become an over commercializes crap holiday. I remember last year seeing on the news reports of records amount of spending, people spend way to much at that time of year I think. I know I won't be spending lots this year. luk3us, you were one of these little kids once, I bet you bugged your parents to buy you all the crap under the sun at Christmas....I know I did  I used to get up at the crack of dawn on Christmas morning, now you can't even bribe me to get up.

Try the Command & Conquer Windows 95 Edition Windows XP Fix guide we have at http://www.cncnz.com/features/tech/ccxpfix.shtml Its for WinXP but may work for Win2K. It involves the small patch that Koen mentioned above plus a few other things.

I assume you actually paid for the game?

When I created the Zero Hour section for the site I made a few errors with the Kassad name. I thought I fixed all the links. All fixed now though.

I'd like to but I won't be able to get time off work around Jan 2004. Plus I'm not interested in any of the other bands at the 'Big Day Out'. They will put on a great show though BTW, I heard that Edward Furlong (the young John Connor in Terminator 2) is going to be in Metallica's next video for "The Unnamed Feeling". Just a usless bit of info for you
