My interpretation is that we will never see Kane again. The saga of Kane as the Messiah will end. We don't know what happens at the end of C&C4, so there might still be GDI and Nod, but probably future games would focus more on the humans versus Scrin (if made).

CNCNZ.com Presents: Louis Castle CommandCom Presentation - History of C&C
Koen replied to Sonic's topic in Command & Conquer News
He's at a startup company now - still with some ties to EA I think (they might be part shareholder), I didn't really ask about this. He's basically working on the "next-generation Steam" where you don't need to download the game before you start playing, the entire game downloads itself in the background. C&C3 for example would only need to download 200-300MB before you could start playing. -
Great editing. I basically managed to have 3 videos and miss all the questions being asked... Back to report writing, just a few more sections!

I'm back home now. But I will need a few days to catch up. I'm thinking about having three parts: - the trip - C&C4, the game - deleted scenes (yeah, that does sound mysterious, its just a fun thing) I've actually written down most of part 2 right now... hmm. Maybe the order is wrong

Heading for CommandCOM: What Are Your Big C&C4 Questions?
Koen posted a topic in Command & Conquer News
This Thursday I'll be heading off for CommandCOM in Cologne, Germany. I will be wearing my CNCNZ.com T-shirt and taking pictures. However, there will also be an opportunity to ask questions to some of the key developers of C&C4, as they will be attending as well. What big questions do you want me to ask them on your behalf? Post them in the comments of this news item, and I'll try to get them answered for you. If you want minute-by-minute updates, then be sure to check out CNCNZ.com on Twitter, as my mobile phone can directly send messages there. -
Yes, Louis Castle left EA a number of weeks ago. But for old time's sake, he is here. It's great when he tells a story about how they had to write their own video codec for Tiberian Dawn, because CD-ROMS back then were single speed and had very low bandwidth. He's now at a company which is developing a system where you can immediately start playing a game, without downloading it (or only downloading like 10MB and the rest will be downloaded in the background during the game).

Tiberian Twilight Revealed as Command & Conquer 4 Subtitle

Yes, I'll probably not directly post to the main site again during CommandCOM, because the schedule is quite packed. It is much quicker to post to Twitter and/or some photo's. -
Tiberian Twilight Revealed as Command & Conquer 4 Subtitle

I've sent a movie of the moment suprème to Sonic, he'll probably post it soon. -
Cool. I can see that checking all the different places is a lot of work, this should save some time

Except my Avatar isn't a Visceroid at all. It comes from a Metroid game. But it does have the nice jelly properties of a visceroid. -
Heading for CommandCOM: What Are Your Big C&C4 Questions?
Koen replied to Koen's topic in Command & Conquer News
I've collected some questions from this thread. One question I'm probably not going to ask myself, is the one about the offline mode. They said you have to be online, and perhaps for the singleplayer they will allow you to play offline as well. I'm sure everybody else will be all over this, and have nothing original to contribute to that discussion. It's not going to stop piracy anyway (surely someone will hack the online requirement anyway), so it really is for the persistent player profiles. Having some kind of "achievements" which can be seen online will be pretty cool. -
Only drawback: the site doesn't work at all in Opera. And I haven't been able to login just yet.
-
I think it still looks a bit bland, and I'd like to have smoother graphics - can't we do something with better anti-aliasing instead of all those ragged transition lines?
-
If they don't do Scrin in the main game, then there will be a Scrin expansion. And I feel this will be the end of Kane's story arc - there still could be games in the Tiberium universe, but you'd have to come up with some kind of new storyline which is still interesting.

Who needs buddy AI's when you have... me, myself and I. I found it very distracting when I had a buddy AI in RA3, I'd just sent it to attack and then with a few units of myself with it, I could beat the missions. Being alone instead of together should prove a much greater challenge

I have Hell March as a ringtone - and "I've Got A Present For Ya!" for text messages. I find it quite amusing when other people look surprised by it.
-
I dislike fixed population caps - and game lag is not an argument for that. If the current games can do 3vs3, then limiting units to get to 5vs5 is weird. I will make an exception: the Rise of Nations / Supreme Commander style, where each unit needs some "support" (from having a village or some kind of "energy generator") could be acceptable. Then, you can invest in increasing your popcap, when needed.

C&C4 Designer Jeremy Feasel Answers Fans Questions
Koen replied to Sonic's topic in Command & Conquer News
Do you know why they give out vague information? The game isn't finished yet, so they haven't ironed out all the details. Things might still change a lot between the current builds and the final game in ~9 months. I'm sure they will collect fan feedback at CommandCOM and you will get more info then as well. -

Let's call the defense class the "turtle class" then. Oh no wait... that crawler looks an awful lot like a big turtle. Everyone will have to turtle  Also, Apoc posted a follow-up: -
And you can be 100% sure that open wireless network will be completely overloaded by people trying to upload stuff
-
I'm bringing a camera and want to post updates to Twitter. But I do not know what kind of network will be there, so there might be some delays in posting stuff. We'll see.

I'm from The Netherlands, also a neighbour country of Germany. And I'm going on behalf of CNCNZ.com, so you'll find all the news here .
-
But in the package, it was more blueish.

The "(mostly here)" part (or "(vor allem hierzulande)") is what confirms to me this is an RTS game. C&C is huge in Germany, the second largest market after the USA. But the brown colors look more like Generals 2 to me, instead of C&C4.

There's a database table which manages all download sessions. If the problem persists (of having errors), and this is indeed due to file downloads, then it is the location where files are stored. Depending on whether it is a URL, a public-readable location or some folder on the server which is not available from outside, the data is sent differently. The current setup requires all file contents to pass through PHP, while a direct link can be handled by Apache (and causes less load). Unfortunately, that enables "rogue" downloads from other sites.
