i'm sure they had a good reason (in their opinion...) for doing what they did... but they must have known sooner or later they would be killed for it. there is no way you can massacre that many people and not get punished for it. heck, war criminals have been put to death for less then what they did... and those are in the most "advanced" countries. i mean in some countries they would have been stoned to death on the streets. but i feel it's good it happened this way, though it's a shame it took so long. a fair proper trial and such, and they had plenty of time to make any court cases to get out of it and they were still put to death. that shows you they pretty much deserved to be shot o.o; i mean you can never just write something off... you can't just say "oh, they're terrorists so they die now!" you have to make sure you've got all the evidence down and everything is proved. then you kill them ^-^ ...or at least give them some serious jail time. who are we to decide who lives and dies? we're the most powerful nations. we get that right because at this point in time, no-one can stop us. doesn't make it right but it solves a problem in the short term and it makes everyone feel better. they probably will be made into martyrs... but hopefully the fact that they were pursed and put to death might stop some cells from going through with their plans. doubt it, but go figure... in short: bad that they killed those people, so they brought it upon themselves to be shot.

well y'know, whatever happens obama is a welcome change to the country. like was said earlier, it's a break from the republicans, a break from bush and the first afro-american president. so long as obama does at least one good notable thing he will be remembered in history as a truely great president o.o; and unless he screws up it will open the doors of the white house for candidates of every race. i hate to say it but that's kind of a mixed blessing. it will do wonders for american equality and the world's view of the country, but chances are whatever race the president is, he/she will undoubtly be pressured to give better rights to that race... i mean say 20 years from now a mexican president comes into power... the average white person is gonna be boned when it comes to the job market xD but anyway let's focus on the here and now. from what i've seen he's already making political ties with various countries and groups in the middle east. so far with great success from what i've heard o.o i mean if he continues the way he's going he could actually solve all the lil problems between the middle east and the US... though i get the feeling it'll end up like when the CCCP invaded afghanistan. US gives them weapons and aid, then bails later thus creating national US hatred... i bet obama will keep everything good then the next president will totally screw it up :\ but here's hoping that the time obama spends in office will be some of the greatest years of our lives o.o if nothing else having a black president will be one of those "i was there" moments... so far there have been a few moments like that in my lifetime... both good and bad - diana dying, the berlin wall coming down, the twin towers, the rise of technology... we could definately do with another good thing happening ^^;

XD but at least it's not like counter-strike. here at least most people know roughly what they are talking about... it makes for some good discussion so long as we avoid outright arguing ^^ when i said "not that intense" i mean if something goes wrong it's not gonna blow up the world or create a nuclear explosion is it? i mean surely it would only just blow up the building. the nearby area tops... i mean i honestly don't know, and the scientists said they didn't know originally. i don't know what's changed since then, if anything... but i don't much like the idea of something that could blow up the world getting switched on y'know... if it changes the world of science forever, then yey. but other then that unless it's gonna have some kind of impact on my everyday life i don't see why i should worry about it or think about it... i mean in all honesty what does it matter to us exactly what it does? none of us are physics scientists that are working on the project... so y'know...

hmm... well in theory making a water based one shouldn't that difficult o.O you just need to get it started. once it starts moving it will continue until the water runs out or air gets inside and messes with it o.O just build it at an angle and get a few watermill blade circle thingies set up o.o as it goes through the first mill bits, it'll turn all the mill bits... an the next one moves it along an keeps it going... then you've got the water pressure putting it in there in the first place and water mill things carrying the water back -up- again out to your station thingie inland o.o either that or save on mills and just build the station deep underground xD;

hokie here's the deal. one of my friends wants to play zero hour with me. so i install generals (deluxe pack with gen and zero hour in. uk edition) then i check out filefront for patches. of course half of the patches say "for first decade" so i don't know what to do. i decide to uninstall and install my first decade version. everytime i run the installer, it locks up and crashes. everytime i try to manually delete the generals folder, it comes up with a vista denial box >_> how the heck am i meant to get rid of it? o_O at the moment i can't even access task manager to shut down the crashed installer, because task manager refuses to open until the crashed installer is shut down XD;; so right now i'm kinda stuck in a catch 22 and there's NOTHING I CAN DO D: okie, update: i've managed to bin all the generals files except the main application which is giving me the "destination folder access denied" message. no matter how many times i click try again nothing happens :\ [note, if this is explained in another recent post or in one of the instructions i'll delete this thread as soon as i discover, in the meantime though i'm gonna BEG FOR HELP D:] oh right my rig; OS: Vista 32-bit RAM: 2GB processor: intel duel core (two 1.80GHz) graphics card: radeon x1950 pro 256MB i think... main hard drive: 227GB (free space 30GB) hard drive it's installed on: 700GB (429GB free) pretty sure i've got the latest directX aaaand i'm pretty sure all the default file security stuff is turned off (y'know, user account control and all that jive) okie! update on the situation. my computer crashed XD though when i rebooted i managed to delete all the generals stuff. however rather then deleting this topic i might as well use it for an alternate solution o.o see adobe acrobat runs it's annoying little installer thing everytime i right click on something. it's not a big problem but it's an annoyance and i can't work out how to delete it short of actually removing acrobat completely o-o; so any help welcomed (also someone to change the topic title unless i've inadvertantly done it already xD; )

yaaah... but there is still a divide there at the moment. consoles need to become more like pcs xD; that's all they are doing. they're becoming pcs... now you get those dodgy little keyboards for the consoles... but the other downside is that they are trying to become pc's an they're adapting slowly... the mics suck, the webcams are a bit dodgy... in theory you can get a fancy keyboard an mouse an rig them up but the ones designed for the job are dodgy too. not to mention the graphic quality... i mean i know it probably works out cheaper to get new consoles and accessories... but until they reach the stage of teched up pc's i'd rather stick with my home station o.o; i mean check it. consoles are just pc's that are a few years behind in some technology which offer you limited customization options for things... i mean compy's you can edit anything and everything, and assuming you buy the right type of compy, you can put whatever you want in it to suit your needs... and if you play your cards right you can stick with just that one computer for many many years and using the same medium constantly (cd's/dvd's...) rather then having to have a new disc type which your compy struggles with released every couple of years :\ problem is a lot of the people who share our mindsets want the console to be more advanced. problem is as it becomes more advanced it's just gonna be a pc clone... eventually they're gonna be identical and it will boil down to do you want a processor which can last for a long time and run real fancy stuff, or do you want the option to customize? o.O; an if you give it enough time, those lil differences will blend too... that's why -i- find it confusing and a bit silly. because these people are lusting after something that is becoming something else. but i can understand that. it's like some kind of nostalgia... every few years i still dig out my atari and play like, space invaders and things like that. not exactly the same but it might make people understand where i'm coming from o.o an before you start, i'm not calling the consoles dated. the game qualities are as good as the pc ones easily, the processors and graphics cards are advanced in consoles. but pretty much everything else is basically old pc stuff... you pretty much get stuck with the specifically designed stuff which is dodgy or try to rig up fancy new stuff which you would normally use on your pc o.O; can -anyone- understand that? o.o; the main problem is (or was, it's mainly being fixed now) was that in console games online you had no communication... very very few people would buy mice and keyboards... which meant there's no typing done. and sadly the mics are still pretty dodgy... an in some games, gears of war for example, 90% of the time you can only communicate with your teammates or one person at a time... it brings about a whole new type of gamer. they're all too serious :\ you need to have fun in gaming! you need a good mic, keyboard and ways to switch between speaking/typing to everyone or teammates o.o console is still behind that a lot... that and the fact that consoles (the 360 anyway...) basically rip you off completely money wise :\ that's the main reason why i don't wanna play... i mean if i have a choice between console and PC i'm gonna pick the free one everytime xD; though i heard the PS3 is free o.o so i might get that if some interesting games come out and i get money xD; sadly i can't afford that kind of stuff right now... sorry about the bigass rant. i've just been typing and typing >_>;

gawd you think that's bad? xD age of empires and that star wars game that uses the same engine... they use like, four different resource systems. it's not that bad though... you pretty much only need two in each stage of the match (generally currency and some kind of other resource) aaan the second resource kinda changes as you upgrade... occassionally you get a unit that uses 3 or maybe even -4- of the resources o.o; yah as i've complained about many a time before, renegade would be a lot better if there wasn't just a flood of little kids or hackers there :\ same could be said about CS really... they're just more professional on CS. like they'll all use advanced SWAT tactics and kill everyone except one sneaky opponent who's hiding or lost... an they'll like, teabag everyone and yell curses at you over mic an stuff x3; yaaaah i really don't like going on mic with strangers >_> it's normally beyond a bad experience for me... mainly cos i'm so nice, gullible and i talk a LOT when i play games with mics... like, constantly. just yap yap yap xD it is hilarious if you put me in say... BF:2142's zombie mod and i get stuck in a compromising position xD; all you can hear is a constant stream of curse words, screams and "OH JESUS!" repeatedly in an irish accent o.O; which always brings boughts of hysterical laughter to my teammates if they happen to see me running away and jumping like a lunatic trying to avoid the swarm of 30+ guys with knives chasing me xD; but yah xD left 4 dead is gonna be the best. same as BF:2142's zombie mod, only there are bosses, darkness and scareh graphics... but i've already experienced the swarm effect and limited visual range (for my first like, week of zombie gaming i had the visual range set to 88%. scary as all heck in zombie mods but try playing online and you just get horribly slaughtered. so i turned it up a couple of days ago ^^; )

YOU GOT GIRLFRIEND' VIETNAM? ^-^ on that lil subject, check out 9th Company. it's basically very much like full metal jacket but with the russians in afghanistan. it is AMAZING. and GREAT action sequences towards the end... i mean seriously, russians and afghans in close combat with upwards of 50+ per side... yah you can tell that's gonna be brutal x3

aaah there's always a way around it. besides you could probably rig up some kind of vacuum system... the same way jet engines work or when you siphon oil from a car's tank xD just need to start it off and it keeps going by itself o.o but yah, there's always a way to get things working easily... like i said, just need some scientists to work out the kinks...

it's really not that intense. it was a little like, the night before it went on because no-one 100% positively knew what would happen; there was always the chance something horrible might have happened... admitly if the worst happened it would probably have been a small fizzle or explosion, blowing up the building at MOST. but y'know... we're not dead, nothing has blown up yet... so not that much to get intense about. you could say the same about any nuclear power plant. it's possible something could go wrong but i'm not gonna spend the rest of my life watching security cameras in hope of seeing the world end live... right now the intense stuff is trying to gather enough money to get all the kickass games that are coming out now... i mean for years and years there's been nothing but crud released. now all of a sudden all the games we've all been waiting for, for so long are being released in one constant stream... started with spore a while ago (even if that one was a bit of a flop, it was VERY eagerly awaited...) an the latest ones are red alert 3 and fallout 3... soon there will be left 4 dead, call of duty: world at war, gears of war 2 (which i think got released like, today in north america o.O so it'll be in europe in a day or two... not that i'm getting it. but it's an eagerly awaited game by everyone else's standards...) but yah. left 4 dead i've been waiting for, for YEARS. call of duty i only heard about a little recently but the more i hear about it the better ^-^

well i'm sure there are other ways to harness water other then just having a bigass dam... maybe stick a big pump in the sea and have it run the water through a filtering system, then through some kind of charging system like a watermill thing o.o then you get power from the charging and clean water. and you wouldn't only have to hog around the river outlets o.O you could build the power centre as far inland as you want. you'd just need a bigass tube going under the land and a really powerful pump o-o; but yah... yet another one of those ideas that could work very effectively if people put it into practice and thought around any and all hitches. but the governments would never go for it anytime soon... go figure ._.

aaah no concept art yet - when i get enough people giving me descriptions i'll start work. i need to get the picture really started y'know? an once i start work i generally get obsessed and work myself until i'm sick of it xD; so i'll start work once i've got a couple more descriptions. aaand the flash game. yaaah... i would reallyreally like to do that. however the guy who was going to do the coding and such got himself a bigass secret job which basically absorbs him completely. i haven't seen him online more then three times since he got the job a few months ago :\ an then he was only online for a few minutes... however i have found another artist but he doesn't know how to do flash yet, but he wants to learn. so y'know, it's possible that a varient game i've been planning will spring up sometime along the lines. but don't wait up... if i could understand flash code i'd be pumping out game after game. but it just completely goes right over my head. if i really focus i half understand it for a few seconds. then i get a migraine... however that said, an old school friend and i are going to try and make a proper game. not a flash one, a proper serious game. he's learning coding and stuff. hopefully by halfway through next year he'll have learnt enough to be able to work his way around any game engine and know enough to be able to customize things. and very soon i'm going to be taking up a couple of computer game courses (game design and computer animation) so hopefully once i've done them i should be able to make the graphics. to some extent anyway >>; but yah, don't wait up on that either. ideally we will make it happen... but you know how things go. -something- will come up. probably me not being able to get the graphics to look as pretty as i want, or not being able to get the models to run smoothly or something. but we go around that as we come to it.
