    Campaign

WTFOMGDOUBLEPOST?! Also, I've drawn up plans for how you can turn the Red Alert 2 missions into Generals/ZH missions if anyone is interested. PM me for more
  6. If anyone out there has a lot of free time and is good with Generals Maps,I have a series of ideas and sketches drawn up for a full campaign for each side in the ZH universe. These campaigns cultimate in one huge very versatile battle. If anyone wants to hear my ideas and to possibly even make a campaign or the whole lot. There is a story and they have had shellmaps drawn up for them!

    Dogfight

I would love to see the return of the Yak Attack or some sort of machine gun planes, like in Blitzkrieg 2 - Thats was my favourite part of the mod. It was characterful watching your planes attacking each other while wondering who would gain the battle tipping air advantage. It was fun in a whimsickle way. Very characterful, very humourous.

    Can you sayparticle cannons?

Merits versus each side are simple. If you look at the Super Weapons, they are actually best used against the side that builds them... I've never seen anything more devestating to the GLA than a Scud Storm. Multiple blasts means death even for GLA holes. the USA have trouble recovering if you use a particle cannon on their slow moving tank columns, and the Chinese buildings can't survive their own Nuclear Missile attacks. Try ti and you'll see what I mean.

    Blitzkrieg

Following a chat on MSN between myself and Acerz, I only thought it right to write a topic in here on how you can emulate the amazing tactic that helped Germany to take most of Europe and Russia. 'Lightning war' or Blitzkrieg, is one of the most effective tactics ever used, and if employed right on ZH, it will win you a game. Each side has its pluses and minuses on how to perform a Blitzkrieg, its just finding the right balance. In this topic I'll go through each of them for you. USA In regards to a blitzkrieg, this really is a nobrainer. Humvees, Sentry Drones and Raptors are the way to go here. You build your humvees and put whatever infantry combinations you see adequate in them. While the infantry build, also build your sentry drones and 8 raptors. When the raptors are built, try and get the countermeasures and better damage on their rockets. Build several chinooks and also fill them with infatry as you see fit. Manouver your way to near your enemy losing as few units as possible. While moving them, build the sentry gun and the TOW missile upgrades so they'll be done for your attack. Using the raptors, strike out any frontline defense of the enemy, and any heavy tanks in the base. At this point, you order your sentry drones and humvees to attack any buildings they need to. Following this, move your chinooks up the enemies flanks and unload the waiting infantry. Also, keep harassing the enemies tanks/defenses/dozers with Raptors. This should rip the enemy to pieces, and when you see them try and escape via the mandatory second baseway entrance, you use your raptors once more. The infatry and the humvee/sentry drone combo should kill off enemy buildings and infantry in no time. A smart player would have used the time and the money built up while attacking to bring in some superior armour (Paladins preferably) and support (Commanches, Tomahawks). Your enemy will probably not have enough fight in them to resist the humvees, but if they do, the armour will win the day for you. China In my opinion, the chinese force has the most lethal early game attacks in the game. Blitzkrieg with the chinese is much more simple than the USA. Build gattling and dragon tanks (I normally build 5 gats and 3 dragons) and an airfield filled with Migs. While you move your tanks, make some upgrades (Mig Armour, Black Napalm and the Gattling boost) Charge the enemy frontline with the tanks, while having the MiGs knock out defenses. Them use the tanks to mop up the enemy, and buy frenzy when you have the Generals points. Though some say this is not any good, the increased fire and damage granted by Frenzy will make all the difference. While the tanks/Migs attack the front line. Have a troop crawler or two come in from the side entrance to the base and have the red guard shoot/capture the enemy buildings. This will catch most people off guard who don't expect a 2 pronged attack like this. GLA The fragile nature of the GLA makes a Blitzkrieg seem like a useless option because they have no planes to help take out defenses. Well, in Generals, a Blitzkrieg is really not an option for the GLA, but in ZH, its priceless. This line of thought shouldn't put you off trying a blitzkrieg against anyone. I've found that the GLA are actually the best people for pulling off a Blitzkrieg, even moreso than China. Scorpion tanks are the fastest basic tank in ZH/Generals. After building several scorpions, focus your money on bikes. Build a group as large as possible and balance out the infatry between rocket troops and rebels. Also load a single worker on a bike. Move the scorpions towards trhe enemy and build the Rocket upgrade for them. Harrying the enemies frontline with these will mean your bikes go un-noticed. Throw them over a cliff, clear and hold a small piece of the enemies base while still harrying their frontline with Scorpions. Once you are sure the area around your bikes is secure, unload the worker and build a tunnel network. At this point you'll be able to start pouring forces into the rear of the enemies base, meaning they'll have to trundle from thier frontline, dealing with Scorpions, to their rear to deal with whatever nasties you send down the tunnel. The resulting confusion will cost the enemy his base and win you the game. I cannot emphasize how vital micromanagement or a very quick hand is required to pull off this strategy, especially with the USA/China and their airforces. This strategy was designed so it would be able to work at many point in the battle against an enemy of any size. I've not gone into ZH Generals in this because with each of them a new set of opportunitys involving the Blitzkrieg become available. I've also not mentioned the ways of countering a Blitzkrieg, because theres not that many of them really. Try and hold your ground and not get encirlced is the obvious one. The other one would have to be, try and be quicker than your enemy. This is easier said than done and it takes a wry general to do either. I know some will criticise my thinking in this, but ultimately, its worked for me and I implore you to prove me wrong. I'll also not take any notice of 'but what if i spawn xx number of rocket troops and put them at the rear of my base' or something equally dumb. This stategy is about manouverability and suprise. When you have both of them, you hold the keys to victory in your hands and its upto the opposition to try and second guess your intentions. I've yet to meet a human player whos been able to effectivly defend against a Blitzkrieg. So there you have it, Generals Blitzkriegs, and how to do them. A good way of practising them is obviously Skirmish, or if you're feeling like more a challenge, try and do this against the ZH generals. NB - Where I've mentioned ZH specific units (like sentry drones) simply replace them qwith more humvees or whatever unit is closest to taking their role.

    GLA Strategy Guide

I find this sort of thing insulting Generalz. Just because you hold a victory over Acerz and Cygnus does NOT mean you can dictate to me whether my strategies are practical. I have tried them, and guess what...thats right, they worked. Anyway, back on topic. If fighting the GLA as the GLA, the cash bonus for klling units is a must. The cancelling out of dirty tricks by the enemys equally dirty tricks emans that when the time comes to decide a winner, the winner is going to be whoever has the most money. If using the cash bonus, you stand a chance of getting a better attack force because of the crates salvaged and the extra money means that even if your first wave only softens up the enemy, a second wave right behind them can kill the enemy using their numbers advantage. Jarmen Kell on a motorbike is another one that has become a must IMO. As his bikes speeding round getting into position, you distract the enemy and he snipes them apart from nowhere. His bike meanshe won't be vulnerable to MiGs and enemy return fire. This si especially effective when playing as Demo Jazziz. When you've got an enemy force occupied on the front line, you nip over the cliff that the enemy believe is keeping their flank secure. Then proceed to blow apart the enemies front line while Jarmen Kell destroys power plants and snipes dozers. If you combine the two strategies together, theres very little that will stand in your way and you'll find yourself the victor while your enemy goes away tail between their legs.

    GLA Strategy Guide

The same sort of strategy applies to the USA paradrop if you're quick with them, or the chinese. The GLA Battle bus is one of the most undersestimated weapons in my view. Imagine the look on someones face if they were marching a tank column and out of nowhere, four battlebusses filled with an assortment of infantry appear from nowhere (maybe even GPS scrambled) and wreck the column. The GPS scrambler is the weapon Generals power on ZH IMO, only just beating the tunnel network and the the Chinese Frenzy. (Yes, I did just say that). I've used it so much now its wrong, and its one of the reasons my preferred GLA commander is Prince Kassad. sneak Attacks are also good, but only effective if you're catching someone in a cross fire IMO. I've seen replays where people have charged large columns, been suprised by Sucds and other GLa toys, gone to retreat, Sneak Attacks appeared n marauders have popped out n blown hell out of the retreating enemy. Both are bloody brilliant.

    GLA Strategy Guide

Basic stuff and its not GLA Ziggy. 4 scorpions being built in one WF, Scorpion rocket n two technicals in another, by the time you engage the enemy, you have a well rounded force. See, thats a more simplistic strategy for the GLA.

    Which Drone is Best?

Wow, Another Ziggy post with less than ten words in it.... If you want laser humbees, I recommend you look at what an Avenger is. Essentially, Ziggy, its a humvee thats got armour plating and two huge lasers on the back for stopping missiles and shooting down Aircraft. I forgot, you are blssed/cursed (delete as appropriate) to not own ZH. Get off your behind and buy it so you can actually post something useful. Also, the way around the Laser General as the Airforce General came in form of Carpet Bombs. You bomb the hell out of one specific bit then you marc some stealth commanches past and hit their power, rendering the lasers useless n use rocket filled humvees and your raptors/auroras. Everything has counters. The Laser tanks needing power is another example. Or Drones needing a point of power etc etc

    GLA Strategy Guide

Some basic strategys for you all: Tunnel Rush - This is an expensive strategy where you build four workers after making your normal quota of people for building structures. while the workers are making the supply stash and barracks, you have these four workers all rush the nearest town or supply depot and build four tunnel networks. A free duo of rocket troops for each tunnel aswell as the machine gun on the network means that you'll have a versatile defense. Once the workers are done, one can build a supply depot and the others can jump into the tunnels and have one of the workers at your base make another tunnel so they can exit and your units can enter. This strategy is expensive, but extremely effective, especially when employed by Dr Thrax. Technicality - Two Technicals, Two workers, eight rocket Troopers - you load the infantry into the technicals and you use the workers to make a barracks and tunnel network while the rocket troops n technicals hold off the enemy. When the barracks and the tunnel is complete, you'll have the ability to throw more infantry out, and get another 2 rocket troops for free. If you've got a lot of spare cash, make a war factory n throw a battlebus out and load the rocket troops in it. You'll have a hard as nails bunker to defend your troops while you throw out all sorts of infantry and tanks while throwing more through the tunnel network. Works especially well against the chinese who normally take a while to get anything good up and running. i'll write up some more advanced ones when I can think of them...

    Which Drone is Best?

Naturally that'd be telling... I'll just say I'm a buff for gattling tanks and leave you with that. Anyone got any good strategys involving drones? I know its unique when the USA face the USA n they all have drones...

    Which Drone is Best?

There is no best drone in my opinion, because in the end, they all provide soemthing good, and act as cannon fodder anyway. I always equip the cheap scout drone to prevent attack by stealthed GLA, and because upgradiong an entire column of tanks costs much less than upgrading them with Hellfire drones.
