    C&C: The First Decade Posters

Its a legal disclaimer, its that simple. Their legal department said, "Hey! We don't control the online gaming for these games anymore, print on the box that online services are not guarenteed and may be discontinued, otherwise we might get sued." and the people printing the box said, "Okay!" Don't read anything more into it, its their legal department covering their asses. I bet if you dug around and looked in the manuals/eula/misculanious other matereals of the origional releases you would find a similar statement.

    my thoughts on EALA

the truth does hurt. Anyone in the CnC Community who thinks EALA can make a truly good CnC game is just diluding themselves at this point. As I said in the OP, I really want EALA to prove me wrong.

    my thoughts on EALA

in a sense, thats why I took the time to write it. Hopefuly you have made them a bit more....receptive to the community's wishes. By the way, if you actually READ the rant, I did say they will probably not give a crap a bout it
  4. I wasn't saying TT is impossible infact I think its very possible, but Petroglyph Developing and EA Publishing is a lot closer to the relm of impossible than possible. That said, if EA gives Petro the oppertunity, we might seem them do it because if they worked with EALA on it they could pretty much bring back the origional team which would be really cool I still dont think it will happen.

    Tiberian Twilight

The only way a game is sucessful is if we, the consumer buy it. I have my reasons for being so jaded when it comes to EA, read my thread called "My thoughts on EALA". Yes its scathing, but I believe it, and it is my opinion

    Tiberian Twilight

you have a lot more faith in EA's executives than I do I can seriously see them saying, "Oh the compilation pack didnt sell well, people dont want Command and Conquer anymore. Oh well no more CnC! Lets go develop BFME III!!!!" Buy it just to be safe
  8. given petro's history with EA, we have about the same chance of that happening as Jesus coming down and saying, "Heyyy guys, lets share a joint together!"

the truth of the matter is. If you guys want to see ANY new Command and Conquer games, everyone needs to buy TFD. EA speaks one language, dollars and cents. If TFD sells poorly, we will never see another CnC game. Generals, RA, Tiberian or otherwise. I have a great excuse to buy it...I cant find my CDs
  10. Now, I truly do not know if this post will survive or not. This is my first post on these forums, though I have lurked. I just feel the need to get this out and share it with CnC fans and truly put forth a challenge to EALA, though I am sure that they wont listen. Let me start off by saying that I have no faith in EA as a game company. EA killed my first mmorpg Earth and Beyond (also a westwood product), that coupled with their policy on sports games (screw innovation, just get a new one out!) and thier microsoftian-esque business model has really left a bad taste in my mouth about EA, the corperation. Now on to the main arguement. To put it as bluntly as I can: I do not trust EALA with the Command and Conquer franchise. I have several reasons for this, the first one is that they are a division of EA Games. EA Games does not pride itself on quality, it prides itself on putting out decent games at far enough intervals that hardcore fans can justify a purchse, while still at short enough intervals that they can maintain a high profitability (see Madden for an example). They also have built themselves on the backs of smaller companies that had a solid product, that EA has bought and put out to line their coffers with. This is the company with our beloved franchise. THIS is their model. I truly do not believe the EA is willing to put the time or money it would take to make a truly worthy sucessor to Command and Conquer. Their "commitment" to the franchise I believe is best demonstrated by the fact that when they aquired Westwood "redundant" people were laied off. This my friends is the beginning of what is widely called the death of Westwood. Change is not a bad thing, but when change creates the massive talent drain we have seen over the years with EALA, its horrable. Westwood was destroyed and EALA was born, those elements of Westwood that were laied off or quit went off to form Petroglyph, as we all know. Petroglyph gets the rights to liscence the Star Wars universe and starts development on Empire At War. EA is none the wiser. Petroglyph shows off Empire At War, and what do we see from EALA? More development team members leaving, where do they end up? Petroglyph. This is not a massive pro-Petroglyph propaganda post, but I truly do believe that the loss of these development team members to Petroglyph hurts the CnC Franchise, badly. EALA fires back with BFME II. Blah. We have had hope recently with Mark Skaggs and his announcement of RA3 through a fan newsletter. Mark Skaggs got his ass fired for that, and RA3 indefinately shelved. (Aaron, if you prove me wrong, I will retract and apologise...but not for the entire rant.) However, hope is always contrasted with a bit of pain. Generals was a mediocre game. I'm sorry, but it was. It was not a Command and Conquer. Command and Conquer was attached to that game because they realised it was mediocre and attached the name as a cash grab. I believe this fervently, no amount of proof otherwise will convince me. So heres the situation as I see it: 1. Westwood is dead and buried 2. EALA is a little girl playing with Mommy's makeup. 3. Petroglyph is the new Westwood. Now for my challenge to EALA: After BFME II is gold. Start working on a Tiberian Twilight that will make me eat my words. PROVE to this community that you have the talent and most importantly the DESIRE to make a game deserving of the Command and Conquer franchise name. Give us innovation, prove to us that you aren't a little girl playing with mommy's makeup. PLEASE, PROVE ME WRONG. I feel a whole lot better.
