Hi there, my friends and I are trying to play this mod I made but one of my friends red alert 3 refuses to use the mod.
The mod is installed on his computer at:
%MyDocuments%\Red Alert 3\Mods\ObEdition\ObEdition.big
%MyDocuments%\Red Alert 3\Mods\ObEdition\ObEdition_1.0.skudef
Here is the mod:
www.pokemonca.net/pub/Red%20Alert%203%20-%20Oblivions%20Edition%201.3.zip
What happens is this:
1. He launches red alert 3 from steam with the command line option "-ui"
2. Hit's "Game Browser"
3. Mods Tab ~ Double clicks ObsEdition and red alert 3 lauches up
The problem is that red alert 3 is launching into the stock version, none of the mod changes are taking effect. They work perfectly with me and my other friend but no go for him. If he plays a skirmish under my mod, it even saves the replay as [obe]Replay but like i said, its not actually in my mod.
Things I have tried:
1. Verifying game cache
2. Command lining the game through steam like so: "-applaunch 17480 -win -modConfig "C:\Documents and Settings\[hisusername]\My Documents\Red Alert 3\Mods\ObEdition\ObEdition_1.0.skudef"
and yes the game starts up in windowed mode so i know its getting the command line correctly
3. short path to the mod file
4. making a mod launcher that sets the working folder to the installed steam folder
5. copying the mod to the root directory and not including the full path
6. used a par file to verify the mod files were the same as mine
Yikes, what a mess.
My system:
Windows 7 x64 Professional
Wolfdale Core 2 Duo 3.16ghz
GeForce GTX 470
4gb Ram
Friends system that also runs it:
Windows 7 x86
GeForce GTX 460
3gb Ram
Friends system that wont run it:
Windows XP
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
3gb Ram
GeForce 9400GT
When looking in google, the only instances I can find about this are when people are using pirated copies but we all 3 own the steam version. I also posted this in the official red alert 3 modding forums but no help there.
