Hi all.
I'm thinking of organizing a small c&c tiberium dawn lan turney in about a month or so. I have some old P166/32MB machines with an isa network card and a sound card. I'm researching the best way to do this.
NETWORKING:
I hear c&c supports 4 player networking. Which protocols .. tcp/ip or ipx/spx? Should I go for plain DOS or windows 95? Windows 3.11 is oddball enough to be out of the question. Are there problems getting the network to work with DOS?
SOUND:
I haven't looked at the soundcards yet. Do they have to be soundblaster? What other would go? For sound, I'll use headphones. Also, I'll have a projector showing some c&c artwork and some ambient music as well.
The idea is to grab two or three tables, place the machines (desktop form factor) on top of eachouter, network them via a cheap switch and attack a monitor, keyboard and mouse on each side. Two of such cubes make for 8 players, which is more than enough.
Any ideas on how to best organize this - hardware wise- are very appreciated. Have a nice weekend, folks.
