  1. Okay, haven't seen a thread for this yet so I decided to throw one up. We know they're supposed to be Japanese, they have the lion's share of transforming vehicles, and that they're getting most of the naval action. Beyond that a lot is still up for speculation. So, anyone up for some speculatiom? My two cents: Transforming Buildings- The Empire of the Rising Sun builds like no one else in the game because they don't build persay. Instead of manufacturing prefab buildings, the Japanese MCV produces deployable vehicles that set themselves up where they are needed then pack up when the front lines are elsewhere on the map. Couple this with their amphibious technologies and it is quite possible they can dominate any island chain map the player choses.

Which campaign will you play first?

Honestly, I've seen worse. Both from furry "artists" who end up on Encyclopedia Dramatica and from modders who stick to "normal" conventions. But the question remains, how will it play?

Which campaign will you play first?

I look forward to it, the battle a real challenge to my RTS skills, not a stupid AI that cheats or the like.

    Sex Scenes? NO WTF!

Thank you for pointing that out Dr. D, I actually didn't notice the date of the post before me. Besides, who cares?

    Sex Scenes? NO WTF!

That X-Play episode was priceless. And as for our "top psychologist," I'm leafing through another one of her books on Amazon.com, "The Fixer-Upper Man." I haven't even gotten past the preface and already I have to burst out laughing ("You think men really came up with the idea for indoor plumbing?") Yeah... people who are interested in weird trival like me should know that yes, the major figures in modern indoor plumbing were in fact men. My opinion? Ladies, save your money and talk to your mothers again. While your parents aren't infalliable, they're certainly a better source of advice then this quack.

Yeah... about that. You see, while you were busy attack New Zealand, I conquered the rest of the world with my robotic minions. *cues evil laugh followed by the song Brain Freeze* Better luck next time?

    KW IS COMING

Next year if not before Hell freezes over. I'm really not that interested as Soulstorm is going to eat a large amount of my time.

Not rule the world and make all of humanity their slaves? Damn.

    Empire of the Rising Sun

I see sea mines becoming a wise investment for Allied and Soviet commanders (if they're in the game.) Also, it has been said that your units can either be really good on the land or in the water, not both. If you go the amphbious route you can do both but not either very well.

    New units you wanna see

We have enough outside of the game, we don't need any in it.
  11. No. If GW could sue Blizzard, they would have done so already. There is most likely enough difference between the IPs that any copyright claims court would have probably thrown the case out. From your story, it sounds like when GW changed their mind, Blizzard said "No! We did too much on this to just throw away." then proceeded to give their work a different coat of paint. This also must have happened relatively early in the design process as only the Zerg really bear any resemblance to a GW IP. This arguement is over unless you can produce articles proving that GW had a hand in the development of Starcraft. Otherwise, I'm bored so lets go back to discussing how the Zerg will probably be unbalanced in SC2.
  12. ^ As the probably most rabid cheap gamer I know, I approve of the above message.

Transformers and not the Autobots/Decepticon kind either, Hackers, maybe some sort of wacko ore truck that mechamorphs into a repair vehicle or a ambulance. I'm sure I'll think of more as time rolls on.
  14. I'm sure if Games Workshop could make a case to demand royalties from Blizzard they would. However, if that's the case then 20th Century Fox should be able to knock GW for the tyranids' similarities to a certain Xenomorph they own creative rights to and Robert Heinlein should be able to sue them for using the idea of soldiers equipped with powered exo-armor. There are similarities to Warhammer 40k, that can't be denied. However, Starcraft has enough unique fluff to make the game it's own animal. The strained relations between the colonies and the Terran Dominion, the Queen of Blades, the Protoss's struggle to keep from going extinct, all good stories that I hope they continue. Dawn of War is a awesome game, it is the only game that has the dubious honor of never leaving my hard drive once I installed it. But from where I'm sitting and based on what I'm gathering, GW is right next to Palladium Books and Electronic Arts as the snobs of the nerd industry. They own a large chunk of the market and they act like that's a license to abuse the customer as much as they want.

What? Not Yuri? I always thought his emphasis on mind control and biotechnology would be a perfect fit for a future furry empire. Just swap the Bioreactor for something more plausible, the Grinder for a convientional repair depot, change the units a little, modify the genetic manipulator's power, and maybe add a little overseer unit for the slave miner and you're good to go. That's how I would probably do it if my mod skills didn't suck and I actually had to do it.

    Empire of the Rising Sun

It's hard to mess up a blimp. The only way they could change that would be to make the Kirov more like a plane and less like a airship. I'm still waiting for someone to make the inevitable reference to the song "Turning Japanese," it's too good of a corny joke to pass up it seems. Anyway, I believe we do have two Empire units to dicuss, the Tsunami battle tank and the Seawing Bomber craft. Both are amphibous and both seem to show that the Japanese have multi-functional units.

Amazing how quickly this thread drifted towards the gutter. XP And wow, DD's furry empire is growing. So Doc, what kind of units will you command? Hundreds of expendable vulpine troopers armed with itty-bitty peashooters that lead up to rarer morphs that are actually useful in a fight? Will your army use a Con Yard or will you employ a engineering duo named Jack Black and Cecil Stewart? Will anyone else get the jokes I'm making?

Fourthed, and what chu talkin about Red Blitzkrieg? You should have known we'd all go for the lulz.

Or a lot of people who voted just for laughs. You DID make the poll...
  20. Gen. Yuri

    The Epic, BEST faction poll!

That is a matter of opinion. Some people will go nuts over such a appearance. Besides, how would a RA3 version of the GLA even function?
  21. Yeah, that usually is a side effect of Blizzard delaying their toys.

Holy crap, more then half voted for DD's military regime. Don't Doc, Gen Yuri lends you his skills in battle.

    Empire of the Rising Sun

I don't know, but I suppose that's the point of the beta, to make sure nothing kneecaps any of the three for release.
  24. Gen. Yuri

Which campaign will you play first?

Damn, it's a tough sell between the first four. The first three because they're actually in the game and DD's empire for the humor... Uggh, I hate decisions.

    EA to aquire Take-Two?

This fills me with some optimism, at least someone in T2 noticed how perfectly this was timed with the oncoming release of GTA4 and politely said "No thank you."
