    System specs

Nice machine, Osey...I know what you mean about the price My last upgrade was in May, I'm sitting with a 3000+ Athlon XP, 1024MB PC-3200 RAM, and a G4 Ti4600. Maybe if I do some saving I'll upgrade, but there aren't any games coming up that I'm interested enough in for me to warrant an upgrade. My computer plays EnB and KotOR perfectly, so I'm in no big rush to get an Athlon FX.

    Land is Black in Generals????

The ground being black indicates a broken link to a texture file. Have you tried re-installing the game? Are you using any mods or conversions of the game? These can wreak havoc on the art files.

    lan game red alert1

It can't be done in Windows XP or 2000, the patch to get RA1 to work disables network play. Otherwise, make sure you have the IPX/SPX protocol enabled on your network card on both machines and you should be ready to go.

    The LOTR Game By EA

I agree that EA is just trying to cash in on the LotR craze, but if EALA pulls off what they are promising, it will be an impressive technical feat. I'm interested in it just to see if they can deliver on what they promised.
  7. Not neccessarily, upgrading drivers can improve performance. A set of Detonator Drivers awhile back improved my performance by 10 percent - there can be benefits.

    Revolutions

I didn't like the ending because it didn't answer my biggest question. Leaving it to a video game to answer is just retarded, because only a small portion of Matrix fans are going to play the game.

AAAAAAH I CANT Run RA1 ON MY PC!!!!!!

And the error you had may just be a random memory glitch. Try restarting your computer and then play again. Memory errors can occur at random and may have nothing to do with the installation of RA.

    Revolutions

    Ending sucked, drove me nuts.
  12. Make sure you are running the latest version of DirectX. That can be a problem. Also, make sure the firewall in Windows XP is disabled, that can prevent the game from starting. Other than that, I'm not sure what else could be an issue. Let me know if that works and then we'll take it from there.
  13. A good test is try hooking your computer directly into the internet to see if you can connect. As long as you keep the exposure brief, you shouldn't have to worry about anything. If you can connect then, the problem lies with the router, if not, the problem lies elsewhere. If it is with the router, try stepping through the guide again - perhaps you missed something. If the problem is not the router, try re-installing DirectX9.0b. If that fails, contact your ISP and explain the problem to them.

    Your Favourite Graphics Card

I'm wither Shocker, I go where the performance leads me. For now, the ATI Radeon is best card you can get, but if the new offering from Nvidia retakes the throne, then I'll be back with them. Graphics cards are a fickle market.....
  15. When you install Red Alert 2 it makes an entry in the Windows Registry which informs things like the Patcher and YR where it is to be found. Try re-installing Red Alert 2, because it may be that the registry entries weren't made, or gave bad information.
  16. If all else fails, try plugging your computer directly into the modem and see if you can play. If you can't, then it has to be a problem with Zero Hour rather than the Router. Give that a shot and see what happens.
  17. You have to open certain ports for Generals to be able to play. I don't know the ports off-hand, but check around to see what port Generals uses, or open up your own ports in your Firewall/Router and then inform Generals about which ports to use in one of the .ini files.

How to share broadband between 2 pc's?

Okay, I tried to interpret your problem in English, so if my suggestions are way out to left field it's because I can't understand what you are writing. First of all, what type of Router are you using? Is it s Linksys, SMC, D-Link? Does it have a built-in Switch? If so, how many ports? If not, what type of Hub or Switch are you using to connect both PCs? Your problem is either DNS resolution, or you have disabled internet access for both computers. If it is DNS resolution, then the problem is with your ISP or something you have misconfigured on your router. If it is disabled, then check your router to make sure you haven't blocked any IP addresses from the 'Net. Another thing to consider is how your internet was set up. Did you originally just have one computer hooked up to the broadband, with the modem plugged directly into the computer? Some ISPs require a specific hardware address of a NIC card to allow internet access. If that is the case, you should be able to have your router emulate the MAC address of the NIC card you originally were connected to the internet with. That will fix the problem
  19. Having 7 oppponents also uses a ton of RAM, so maybe there is an issue with your virtual memory. Have you made any adjustments to your virtual memory size?

    Call of Duty

I haven't had much time to play games lately, and when I do I'm doing trade jobs like mad in Earth & Beyond I might pick up Need For Speed: Underground - it looks pretty cool.
  21. Is your Cable Connection connect directly to your computer, or does it run through a Hub/Switch/Router first? Router's usually have a built-in NAT firewall, and so you'll have to open some ports on it and tell Generals which ports are open to be able to play.

Which C&C game do you like most?

Earth and Beyond is my favorite.....hence the reason I chose other Besides EnB, though, the original Command & Conquer remains number one. It has to be the best RTS of all time, IMO.

Probs with LAN games of RA2

Also, make the sure the software firewall on the WinXP machine is disabled. This can prevent connections for Red Alert 2.

    Red Alert Sound Problems

It also depends on your sound card - newer cards like the Audigy2 can have issues with certain older games. Unfortunately, there isn't mych you can do about it that I know of other than installing an older sound card. Sorry!

    C&C 95 LAN Game

C&C95 also requires the IPX/SPX protocol to play, which isn't installed by default on WinME. Check your network settings to see if that protocol is set up on your network.
