  1. I interpreted the article like the author did. EA might make a profit from 2.5 million sales, but if EA says they want a 100% profit, then 5 million copies have to be sold. I agree about the bloated budgets. I know it will never happen, but I think the companies should get rid of their advertising departments and roll the ad budget into making a better game. Valve spent $10mil advertising Left 4 Dead, and $25mil for Left for Dead 2. How many millions went into advertising Call of Duty and Battlefield last year, and then the pump out DLC? Blah.
  2. Please do not spread mistruths. A legit copy of KW can be installed and played as a standalone with the help of Notepad and Explorer. I know this because I have C&C3 and KW and limited hard drive space, so I can only install one game at a time. '********************************* This is what I did to play KW w/o reinstalling Tib Wars. I was using Win XP. I did not need to download anything. Files were installed to C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Command & Conquer 3 **If you are installing to a different directory or different drive, then adjust according. What you need: Notepad Windows Explorer (or ms-dos) the knowledge to use the above 2 programs 1) Create a file named 'CNC3.reg' In Notepad, copy the lines between the *** *** Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\Electronic Arts\Command and Conquer 3] "InstallPath"="C:\\Program Files\\Electronic Arts\\Command & Conquer 3\\" *** Save file. Double click on CNC3.reg and import into your registry. 2) Create the following directories and files: \Command & Conquer 3\cnc3.exe \Command & Conquer 3\Core\1.0\Shaders.big \Command & Conquer 3\RetailExe\1.0\cnc3game.dat (For example, open Notepad, hit Ctrl-S, then name file cnc3game.dat. All 3 files should be empty) So the .dat file would go in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Command & Conquer 3\RetailExe\1.0\ 3) Install KW. Play KW. '*********************************

Hrvatska! Hrvatska! :waves flag: The guys smacked England in the prelims. Now they smacked Germany. Good times. My team has its first game of the season tomorrow. I know you all will be cheering for me. Thanks for signing up. Will you be joining a D-league team or a human-owned team?

  8. http://goallineblitz.com/game/signup.pl?ref=8319217 Anybody played this thing? I just started one to see what the deal was. You basically create a football player, get him signed by either a computer team or a player-created one. I dunno, just checking it out myself. It says it's a MMORPG, just web-based though. It's free. It might be a little confusing, so let me explain how it works. When you first register, you won't get any emails at all. Then, create a character. You start off with 400 flex points, and it costs 300 to make a QB, RB, or WR. 200 for Defensive player, FB, or TE, and 100 for Oline, Kicker, or Punter. You then get 15 skill points which you use to improve your player. You can level up your player by getting 1000 xp(through training and/or in game playtime). Now, you have a couple of option. You could look at the top of the screen and click on the Contracts link. It might say 0, but there are usually 3 contracts from CPU teams for you. Click Accept and you have just joined a team. You can also go on the forums, and go to the 'Players looking for a Team, and just say lvl X looking for a team, and post your player page. If you are a guard or tackle, chances are you'll get a big contract and start. If you are in a position thats really filled, like QB, LB, or RB, then chances are you will get low pay to be a backup on a decent team. you will still get playing time, but not a lot. It's all a simulation, so you don't actually play. Give it a shot. It's pretty decent, and they have around 100000 people (although some are probably inactive). I just started a few days ago, and it's fun.
  9. That's exactly what EA said. I also do not believe that was the real Apoc. We all understand that it is difficult to balance a game. However, 2+ months for a bug fix patch for KW is something that no reasonable person would call acceptable, no matter how big of a fan you are.
  10. Re-read the first post in the thread, or the title of this thread. After that, re-read my post. We are not talking about playing via Hamachi. Feel free to ask if you need any further clarification. Or you could let Ghen try the advice I gave.

I was disappointed that I was able to recover the tacitus from Zocom at the end of Act 2, yet I have to recover it again in Act 3. Maybe an explanation of how we lost the tacitus (again) would have helped.
  12. Hi. I believe you mentioned in another thread that you play via Hamachi. I had a similiar problem. If you want to go online after playing via Hamachi, do this: From the Main Menu, goto MULTIPLAYER -> NETWORK -> OPTION -> NETWORK You should see an 'Online IP' and a 'Port Number' Click the arrow and change your online ip from 5.121.???.??? (ie: hamachi #) to your ip address. Logon and go online and play. Likewise, if you want to play via Hamachi after being online, you may have to go back and change your online ip back to your Hamachi address. Good luck. PS: Keep Zonealarm because it is fine.
