Help Define the C&C 4 Pre-Order Program
Silverthorn replied to Sonic's topic in Command & Conquer News
Err, no Apoc, since I'm not in America, I don't know all that. I'm from Malaysia, the last special editions I got from C&C3 are tumblers, dog tags, a small plastic pencil box, etc.. But those items are prepared by EA Singapore. And the bobblehead I thought that was only as a contest prize. I do remember it's for sale, but can't buy it as America is expensive in Malaysian currency (Not to mention about how to deliver it to my country), and the problem is, EA Singapore doesn't sell the Kane bobblehead either. I want one too, but I can't as I mentioned. Overall, yes, I thought it's going to be like a request or suggestion, but I guess you're right, you all have your limitations, financially. PS : Don't forget on the CGI part, you may hardly reply my email, but I want you to remember of what I mentioned, especially the C&C3 ones you all kept and revealed, it was backstabbing and it hurts badly. Don't do something like that for C&C4, a CGI kept in a vault is just like leaving a sheep behind in a wasteland without you noticing it until it's discovered by another shepherd instead. -
Title wise, it has been fixed. So I can't change the whole thing since I'm not an EA employee. But overall, it's now or never, and it's all in EA's hands.

Very well Apoc, I understand you. And with the limitations you told me, I am convinced already and the facts you told me are not excuses anymore, but more of the real thing in real business instead. I'll keep that sentences in my note so I can remember them. And lastly, sorry for my rudeness and that, that was the time I felt heart broken by the stinginess you all did from C&C3 till now, that's how it happened until you came in and tell me the reality behind EA's current state. But now I got other plans which I hope you consider, don't forget the CGI, even if they're very expensive these days, it's best that you don't hide them in the vaults like those C&C3 ones were secretly kept until they were revealed by several game sites AND never waste too many scenes into 1 specific mission (RA3 1st Allied mission). And Johnny, I think one figurine can do nicely already. I do not mind a small plane model like the Vic Viper in this picture, which is only 2 1/2 inches. Imagine the Viper plane is replaced by a Condor, Vertigo or even the Orca instead. But as long as EA can deliver the goods and keep something that is worth remembering, then we can be happy. After all, one high value physical item is better than poor low value ones or not at all. AND all downloadables without a high value physical item is very bad. -

Yes, about the bloopers, RA3's bloopers are the WORST of all, they include those from the marketing videos rather than from the original game's cinematics. What will happen if I don't watch them at all and just knew RA3 when I stumble upon the shelf while I don't visit any C&C sites. Overall, for good bloopers, use those from the cinematics, C&C3 & KW bloopers are overall above average but I like the KW one better. And speaking of marketing videos, hopefully EA better not waste all that money just for marketing videos. The "Ackerman for President" were very good, but the rest such as featuring individual actors as well as Uprising's Valentines were all useless and I don't bother watching them. So it's best that all that money have to spend on CGI instead, for the marketing part, think of another way to please the fans. -
But the game is still C&C because of GDI & Nod, to me, it's still a big dilemma to either keep or discard the C&C title when it comes to things like GDI & Nod but with the gameplay as WiC. The most obvious choice of getting rid of the C&C title is when they do it for Generals 2, Generals is NEVER a C&C, so it deserves NOT to have the C&C title.
-
I fear for the worse too, Reda, I felt my heart completely shattered when MyCNC's C&C4 report tells about the WiC clone gameplay. The true color which many famous C&C sites hide them, but MyCNC wasn't afraid to reveal such information.

Ahh, thanks for helping to clear up some problems. Well, you did mention how expensive those physical items are these days, except not all of us including myself are convinced that you all do the best as you can to please us. Because we know you all earn millions of dollars annually and spending a few thousands on those physical items such as figurines are not a huge difference in expenditure. That's why I shout it out loud to ask you all about this. And to be honest, I did my survey, but my results I return are highly negative as I touch mostly the physical items like your photos & soundtracks, downloadables receive the lowests of the lowest rating instead. -

We're doing the best as we can, well, CNCNZ can stop this downloadable nonsense, but what about the other communities from the other C&C sites including the official forum's communities? Will they stick with downloadables, or will they shout for physical items? We will not be very sure unless we spread this message like a disease without being prepared for cure (Like SARS stroke China without warning and its death toll was high). -

I sure hope so, bo. But I'm also emailing APOC to ensure he gets the message early, he maybe very very busy like a bee, but I don't want C&C4 goes off again like a small puff of wind instead of a big bang explosion. Been said that many times, and I want to ensure the survey is not to be taken lightly like how the old C&C3 & RA3 surveys failed but succeeded by the marketing team. So let C&C4 to be very serious, it's a matter that we should get physical items in our hands, not some cheapskate easy-to-steal-by-pirates downloadables. -

OH PLEASE SAY IT AIN'T SO! EA, are you really stingy again to give us downloadables? Moreover, giving another just a Kane photo & C&C4 soundtrack? Pathetic, pre-order or special editions, all I want is like back in the Westwood days including competitors' tactics, bring out the figurines or anything PHYSICAL!! Come on, you already broke my heart a few times, and now you dare to break other peoples' hearts?! EA, be careful of what you are doing?! APOC, do reconsider! Moreover, your competitors will 100% laugh at you when you're so stingy just to provide downloadables, that's epic failure in their point of view! How about you try something like this like a special edition, this tactic can also be used as a pre-order edition too : -
While I was stumbling around back in the Den. Lion posted MyCNC's report, originally written in Chinese but the English version can be found here, http://forums.commandandconquer.com/jforum...list/20902.page . From what I'm reading there, it is pretty sad that I have to agree with the people over there regarding where C&C4 is heading. Yes, C&C4 looks like a "World in Conflict" clone, I was afraid someone will say out something like that against C&C4. My heart just felt even more depressed already since after the Soldier's Head design is gone (Even though it's still in alpha stage, Sonic, you can never be too sure if the devs will keep that current X design poster) including adding the insult of copying & pasting on that existing X design poster. Ooo, Brett & Adam, I wish you all could save us when you see how the franchise is in right now! Lastly, here's MyCNC's quote regarding what the market is up to now today. And I have to agree, not to mention there's "Left 4 Dead 2" & "Call of Duty 6 : Modern Warfare 2".

Ever since I opened my own CGI thread in the official C&C forums, I get nearly no replies on this one and I wonder if Jeremy is gonna read that. So I'm giving it a shot here. To be honest, I'm very very disappointed with many of them that they all take CGI very very lightly as though like it doesn't even exist in the entire franchise. What's the matter? Forget the franchise's history & Westwood! All praise to EA to not create more CGIs. So anyway, let's get this one started and I'm expecting this thread to have some answers. Are we going to expect many CGI for C&C4? You know, back in the Westwood days like you get a CGI before the mission starts and a different one for both victory & defeat ending. I sure hope so, since C&C4 is the last of the Tiberian series, we should end it with a good bang, lesser CGIs is only just giving small puffs of wind. To be honest, RA3's CGI were VERY VERY lacking, I thought the Soviet trailer was promising (Which tells there's going to be A LOT of CGI like Westwood did) to see Apoc tanks rolling in snow & Paris & sickles in Rome, but unfortunately, all of these are wasted into a single mere 1st Allied mission. A BAD MISTAKE!! I also hope EA do have their very own CGI room so this problem can be solved without doing any more of the annoying outsourcing. Outsourcing, especially to the WW fanboys, it's a very very annoying move and it only waste a lot of the company's budget.

Starcraft 2 or Blizzard themselves has always been the excuses they make and they're not very flexible compare to EA's current administration (Which today you saw how Tiberium FPS was canceled). The Bliz dev team always give excuses such as "When it's done", and when they set deadlines, they always can never meet it thus disappoints their fans. So they prefer excusing embarrassments over angry fans when deadlines are not met. Remember, when SC2 is released and possibly even win a "Game of the Century" award, its history of construction will still remain disgraceful permanently, no matter how great or awesome the game will be. -

Asking for numerous CGI of course. But I don't 100% put my trust in them, they promised more CGI to appear in RA3, but sadly, that promise was completely shattered when the game was released, thus shows that the dev team did not put much effort into many CGI, most of them are wasted for the single 1st Allied mission. Nothing else. For C&C4, I can't be very sure, EA promises but most of the time they intend to shatter them, unlike Valve, they kept their promises for real without actually breaking their fans' hearts. -
That one will depend how EA delivers the goods. And most of all, resists the temptation of what EA's new game brings. At least I do know EA can't deliver the goods properly or they're just purposely too slow to please their fans. Valve really learn fast and it delivers the goods very well, 2 former Left 4 Dead 2 boycott leaders were even invited to the studios.

Mal, I don't keep my hopes up on that just yet, sometimes one member's protest isn't enough to motivate or persuade them. -
Even though it might be 10 years with numerous C&C games compare to Starcraft by over 10 years with only 2 games (SC1 & Brood War), but still, some people including myself just love old school. And yes, replaced by WiC clone gameplay is just not cool. So far, the people from MyCNC revealed C&C4's true colors and I'm pretty sure my friends also agree what they said, in the end, some of them told me they also felt broken-hearted the same as I am with lack of CGIs, franchise still remains screwed up, etc.. And I understand, I knew I can be irritating to other people as well. And don't worry, I'm actually a nice guy but can get into a hot temper easily. And again, don't worry about me for so long, because once the game releases, hopefully I'll resign from the franchise once and for all.
-
I could possibly agree of what you said, Mal. Imagine those reviewers are getting highly paid just to review a good game when it actually turns out to be ok. It's just like bribing to cover the rusts while all the shiny stuffs are revealed.
-
Don't worry, I can say that piracy word, but will NOT discuss about it. Rules are rules after all.
-
To be honest, the only thing that 100% makes me happy is when they released C&C3, but the happiness decreased dramatically when they use the crappy X design instead of the Soldier's Head, copy & paste, lack of CGI, downloadable special edition goodies instead of physical items, etc.. The 100% was beautiful but it doesn't last for a long time. So anyway, if people hates me already when I'm all hardcore WW and that. Don't worry, you won't be seeing me for long since C&C4 is going to be my LAST C&C game to play, the last game to finally reveal about Kane's story and the finale, nothing else.
-
Yeah yeah yeah, then I can finally shut up right? The answer is a yes. I also did mention, with EA broke my heart with the losses of CGIs & the Soldier's Head, most of all, original gameplay replaced by the "World in Conflict" clone. Then I can finally nail my mouth shut. So don't worry, this thread won't be active anymore and I do admit when EA doesn't want to follow WW's footsteps, then let them be. Then I'll do whatever it takes to keep casual gamers to stay away from EA, moreover, increase the piracy rate. If you broke someone's heart, that someone will retaliate and take revenge.

Or more like those smurfs as I remembered since Greg Black explained it before. Overall, if I would be online, I rather join in one of those friendly clans, playing with random people can be dangerous if you don't know who that person is, some can be good while some can be the idiots we saw. -

EA may do well to fix our community problems when noobs & idiots are getting pwned and they don't come back (a.k.a. sticking to offline gaming after that), but I still doubt that may cost C&C4 itself, I do wish they fix that on a new RTS game, not to do that on C&C4 which cause many disagreements like we saw today. -

I'm not sure if his calculation is correct, I doubt it could be based on only in the US, but what about those in the other countries? Remember the connection issues or those who can't afford one but forced to stick with internet cafes?
