    V4 launcher & Mig fighter

I noticed Carville did the voice for the aircraft carrier in Yuri's Revenge. Somehow topics on unit voices are poorly recieved.

    What to get in 2009

A different game to the ones already mentioned, I want to see what The Sims 3 will be like. Many of the sports games and the like that are released every year will be worth seeing as well because by the time those are made the Playstation 2 will probably be gone so it will be worth seeing what they will be like with having the need to scale down for a lower end machine.

    Create a General: Part Deux

The first thread proved to be quite popular so I thought it was time for us to exercise out creative juices in creating new generals for the game. I was going to do this for new commanders in Red Alert 3 but none of them have unique units or abilities. I shall start us off with one I thought up. General Leslie Levy General Levy has had a long and distinguished career in the United States Marine Corp, first serving in communications for infantry squads and then moving up to commanding armor divisions. However her fortay was later found to be in psychology, and as she rose in rank Levy employed a number of tactical gambits, from sending women to serve on the front lines in the Middle East so her forces would have a psychological edge over the fundamentalist terrorists they fought to acting as a stalking horse, pretending to defect from the USA in order to gain the trust of opposing forces, usually drawing them into an assault where they are defeated by superior American forces that she had only pretended to turn traitor on. As a general Levy uses these unique and unorthodox tactics on the battlefield. Background Side: USA Rank: 3-Star General Branch: Marines Corps Class Number: 70025758-MK Stationed: Camp Hope, Anchorage, Alaska, USA Tactical Overview: Psychological Warfare Availability: Skirmish, Generals Challenge, Online Army Structures Light Cannon: Research into non lethal weaponry has advanced the development of this state of the art defensive structure. Designed to shoot out a beam of light equal to four million times candel power, this weapon serves to disorienate and slow down enemy units, blinding them and severely hampering their aim. Army Units Javelin soldier: A costly but effective infantry unit, the Javelin soldier uses a launcher that fires a missile into the stratosphere, before descending on a target. Despite the long range of the unit the fact they are unable to move and vulnerable during the ten seconds it takes to aim at and strike a target makes Javelins best used as a support unit. Propoganda Truck: These units are similar to their Chinese counterparts, however instead of healing allied units they serve to weaken the resolve of enemy forces, making them less effective in battle. Sustained exposure will even make a unit turn and fight against their allies. The Propoganda Truck can also deploy Speaker Towers which carry the same effect. Army Generals Powers Relief Supplies: A B3 bombers air drops in food, medicine and propoganda over a targeted area. If the run is successful then the cost of any enemy units and structures are deducted from an opposing commander and added to USA funding. If however the aircraft is shot down then the amount is still deducted from the enemy general however twice the amount of funds is taken from the allied commander. Army Upgrades Shock and Awe: With this upgrade purchased certain units have a 5% chance of freezing surrounding enemy units for a period of five seconds after an attack. Army Modifications -Many units are now female, although they behave and fight the same. -All units and structures cost slightly more. -Power Plants generate more power. -Stealth Fighter is available at start.
  6. Not sure where else this was meant to go. Which game out of the whole series had the best ending? Watching the Temple collapse on Kane and being presumed dead? Nod hijacking the Ion Cannon and blowing up the structure of your choosing? Stavros finding Stalin in the wreckage and quietly assassinating him? First Stalin and then the Nod double agent being killed when Kane reveals himself? McNeal killing Kane? The Philidelphia being blown up and Earth being doomed to be a Tiberium wasteland? The revelations about the Tasidis? Kane being Cabal? Tanya teasing you? Becoming Premier of the world? Choosing between Tanya and Eva? Zofia bestowing you Premier? The win scenes from Generals and Zero Hour? Basically, what do you think is the best or your favourite?

    Tanya verdict

Jenny McCarthy. What I was trying to say was how there was a combination of confusion perhaps over whether this was a different Tanya or if she was meant to be the same person (and either way despite trying her hardest to emulate the role the character seems less capeable of being interchanged as James Bond is) and how EA seemed less concerned with filling in the backgrounds of the different units and characters and more concerned with saying "now each unit has two abilities...oh look at all the hot women we have playing the characters." Though Lissette was sweet.

    Secret Santa!

Okay, that was baaaaaad. Black Sheep bad. DD has Silence of the Lambs added to his Freud book.

    Secret Santa!

Perhaps. The thinking behind what I drive at the moment was looking at what else there was out there and seeing what was the most mechanically sound vehicle out there. Certainly this was a lot better than anything else I found. Edited my post to include Saracen.

    Mirror's Edge

Well I have my computer running through a 116cm plasma and it is so sweet. Of course you cannot sit right up to the screen but being able to play all these PC games on a massive screen, it truely is freakin awesome. I see no loss in resolution or picture quality either. On 24, if we were to take the first three seasons and the game, that covered really the whole story. There was a definite ending, there were really no loose ends that needed to be tied up. If you really needed to know what became of Mandy for example, or what happened to Kim or Chase then you could include the fourth season as well. After that, however, you could tell the writers were desperate for ways to keep the story going, and this was not only shown in the drastic measures used to shock viewers it had the characters acting in ways that was out of character for them. The finale of the fifth season sticks out as an example.

    Tanya verdict

The way I look at it is we look at the way Kari Wuhrer played Tanya, we take her 'yeah baby' and death cackle, and there was no way that could be matched, and Gemma Atkinson and the writers probably chose not to even try. They probably saw fit to put a different spin on the character, pass her off as more of a European version rather than perhaps something closer to the way Kari Wuhrer played her, she was much more American in style and attitude, Tanya was probably seen as a Bond type character, either she was meant to be the same person regardless of the actor or maybe was given the name Tanya and we have different Tanyas about, we have the 1970s version perhaps or one timeline's version, we have another Tanya who is perhaps a different version, someone else who has the codename Tanya or maybe another Tanya from another timeline. Without dropping spoilers it is suggested this is meant to be the same Tanya, so how that works seems to be a bit fuzzy. I can accept different looks, different voice and such, but as hard as Gemma Atkinson worked at capturing the essence of the character she came across as being a female commando who had the handle, the codename Tanya, rather than her being the same person, and the same could be said were we to go from RA1 Tanya and RA2 Tanya, they seem to be a female commando given the Tanya codename rather than the same person as the games might have us believe.
  13. His story had been told. I think the focus in any expansion would be more on who we saw at the end of the Allied campaign, or if maybe Ric Flair was somehow a part of the project.

    Secret Santa!

Hmmm... Mina Synd: A cutting edge PC. Why? Because she favors PCs over console. Doctor Destiny: A copy of Freud. Why? Because I think he would enjoy them. Bware: The set of Black & White World political cartoon books. Why? Ditto. Masked Shah: All the GLA mods for Generals and Zero Hour. Why? Destructive Forces allows planes to be hijacked and flown into buildings (!!!). I think he would love it. Saracen: The Resident Evil film trilogy and the Outbreak games. Why? Because of Milla Jovovich and the thinking she could have played Tanya, and Alyssa in Outbreak is said to be a way to include Alice into the games.

    Post Your Car!

My ride. A bit of trivia: This car was seen a bit in Blue Heelers. Maggie Doyle had one at the beginning of Homecoming Queen and it was also part of the line up of cars in Firebrands. Might have to compile a list of where it appears.

    Tanya verdict

I still think Kari Wuhrer did a better job, but Jenny McCarthy gave it a game try. The direction as well as the actress' skills brought down Tanya though, and have me wondering what she would have been like if the rumors were true and Milla Jovovich had the role.

    Is Yuri Set to Return?

Is the stage being set for Yuriko to go all Rei Ayanami on us, use her psychic powers to wipe out the human race?

    Mirror's Edge

If you wanted to perhaps sound off on the tactics of interrogation used by CTU, please do. I am actually collaborating with a couple of others to write up a critique on some of what the program displays. Bringing the game up, I was trying to give an example of one of the many great Playstation 2 games out there. Really this is as good as it gets if you are a fan, Day 2.5. And sure there are lots of games that you can get for other systems. For me though, I will always have fond memories of Soulcalibur III and Unsung War, and would say I think they are better than their next generation counterparts. As for whether PC is better than console, definitely PC. If you have a TV with a VGA port you can easily have the ultimate setup. You can have mods, the games are cheaper, they run better, but that is where part of the problem is. At the moment I would be looking at maybe $4000 for a cutting edge computer, and certainly when The Sims 3 hits I will take a very close look at investing in a system to play it. On the other hand I could lay down a couple of hundred for a Playstation or XBOX and have this huge library of games on the cheap. I could even stretch for the next gen systems for...maybe something not on PC. But I am a bit selfish that way, I want it all. The best system, computer, games, everything.

    Black Mesa Official Trailer

Really? I was about a minute into the game and thought, they have to make a Resident Evil mod or something. Imagine being in the thick of a zombie outbreak with Chris, Leon and Carlos. That would be the ultimate game.

    Black Mesa Official Trailer

Give these guys a job. Right now. Put them with the developers of Counterstrike and make them millionares for a Half Life remake perhaps better than what Valve could accomplish.

    Mirror's Edge

The point I was trying to make was how we have all these great games for the system, and we have all these kick ass games for the Playstation, like if you are a fan of 24 you have to play the game. Just how it pays attention to the smallest details...Aaron Pierce is with President Palmer, a certain someone is looking up a certain someone else (pay attention between 2:00PM and 3:00PM) and Mandy the assassin makes an appearence, for Max no less. Simply the work that went into it.

An Expanison for Red Alert 3?

Einstein went back to when Hitler was released from prison in 1925 and assassinated him. Grodenko went back to 1927, after Hitler was out of the way. But that would mean of course that Einstein could not have gone back to kill Hitler and...oh no I have gone all cross eyed.
  23. General Leang

    Mirror's Edge

Well there are some truely epic games for it. Red Alert, World Tour, Mass Effect, Dead Rising. Nearly enough to pull me away from 24, Ace Combat, Eyetoy, Outbreak and Soulcalibur.

    Best Command & Conquer ending

It was all Cabal was Kane and clones IIRC.

    Spoiler-Alert

Mishkin? Yeah he was ace, not over the top like say Lissette, the lusty (is that the right word?) Allied commander who probably reads romance novels of handsome officers. But yeah if you want realism then most war games do not even have women. Big kudos to the ones that do, and feature them realistically. Still, a friend saw the game and saw one of the images for Zhana, he pretty much sat up and begged for buttermilk, so EA must be doing something right.
