    Remix Escalation 0.75 Beta

Yes, this is the kind of news that I want to know. Good mods for the older C&C games I own :-) Seams like a really nice mod at that. I liked the Generals system.

Adam Isgreen Comments on C&C 4

I think he is spot on. Its kind of sad that they used the C&C name just to mow out a generic tactical rts.

    Red Alert iPad Gameplay Video

Best of all: No online connection required! ;-) But I can see how it would be a fun game. Didnt really like the iPhone/iPod variant thou (too small screen).
  4. Sadly, I'm not at all sure they will remove the internet requirement for the single player game with a patch. They already got the money so they really have nothing to loose except bad rep and they got that before the release anyway...
  5. I hate to say I told you so. I also know I wasn't the only one who said it: This kind of DRM-tech is only a headache for the consumer. The pirates will still find ways around it (and they did). The only good thing EA can do now is to release a patch to get rid of the connection requirement. Anything else is just another insult. If they do that i might still go out and buy this game.
  6. Since there is potential money to be made here the criminals with bot nets will surely be interested in holding the services hostage. And no. This will not stop the pirates. If it did it would be the first time in history and the scheme itself has been tried before. How likely do anyone here think it is that this will succeed? Terror? Ah, I guess you are talking about viruses and trojans, right? The cracks for games mostly bring me pleasure since I don't need to have the disc in the drive with the DRM disabled :-) No, its no more reasonable then the old ones. Even less so. The more inconvenience you bring to the consumer, the less likely he is to buy your next game. This scheme of EAs only made sure that I will not buy this game.

Raj Joshi's Final Day at EALA

He was always fun to watch. Sad to see him go :-P
  10. Sonic: Well, there are always people who accepts these things. Its up to you if you think its okay or not. I dont. I have stopped accepting it and I expect to be treated as a customer now and not a "potential criminal". For years the industry have experimented with totally useless DRM tech that did nothing to stop piracy and did everything to anger the consumers. Its time it stopped, not time for it to get worse. I was curious enough about the game after the trailer to go buy it on release day here in Sweden but its not an option with an artificially created need to stay online every time I want to play single player. I hope its printed in large font on the package or it will surely go to court here (no, EULA does not apply in Swedish law).
  11. If its that easy to issue a patch then there is no real need for this internet connectivity in single player mode. Therefore it -IS- DRM. Its built upon a need from EA to control the usage of the game. How in the world cant it not be DRM? Why not admit it? Why try to say it is not DRM when it clearly is so? And after that word-bending there comes a promise about removing the feature if its needed. Sorry, for me the trust is not there. I got the same promise from the Bioshock developers 2008 about removing the silly online activation as soon as the game had been out for awhile. Well, its now two years later, the game got cracked in a couple of days and the patch is still not here. They never made good on their promise, why should I trust you? Needless to say I did not buy Bioshock 2 this year because of it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BioShock#DRM_...echnical_issues This will not stop piracy. It will, however, stop customers from buying the game.
  12. To say "no DRM" is to not understand what DRM is. This is WORSE than "DRM". If EAs servers go down or you get disconnected and cant get online you will be totally unable to play single player mode. Totally ridiculous. Last time I played Tiberian Sun was last year. How long will EAs servers continue to exist? How can you even be allowed to sell things that can stop working at any given moment? Is there even a minimum time in which they have to provide access to their servers so you can even start the game?
  13. Yes, its nice of him to confirm such bad news. APOC might want us to accept totally giving up control of the games we buy but I think its totally unacceptable. APOC might also think "its the way of the future" but to me he is more or less saying EA does not want any PC customers anymore. Since the data needed to play the game and the format of the data used in saving the profile and loading it will be wide open to the pirates its not at all unlikely this scheme will be hacked in a week or less. Normally I´d wait until a good crack gets made before purchasing a game. In this case I dont want any developers getting the idea that this is a good way of making buissness. Ill never buy this game and Ill be sure to point out why to as many people as possible. The mere thought that I couldn't count on being able to play Spore if my internet access had been out for more than five days (which only happens when I move to a new apartment) made me skip that game. This game uses an even more silly DRM-scheme and Id rather eat my own foot than giving the developers anything for it. Even the thought of loosing internet access for a day and because of that not being able to play the game I paid to play makes me angry (and no, its not like a MMORPG since that NEEDS internet to be a functioning concept). Im sad that the C&C team is so badly in touch of the community and I do feel a bit sad for APOC since he is the community manager. I could go on and on about bad purchases the last few years but its really no point. I think you understand what I mean.
