APOC Looks Back at C&C Generals

As much as I sometimes do disagree with some statements made here and there about the C&C universe and its library of games, I actually have to agree with EA_APOC's thoughts (philosophy?) about C&C Generals being a game that is still C&C-centric gameplay-wise, despite not related to the Tiberian/Red Alert plots where storyline is important. I personally do not play C&C:G multiplayer often, but I did go through the Single Player mode (I usually play C&C for Campaign Modes). I feel that the plot isn't my cup of tea. Sure, the motif(s) and themes surrounding C&C:G seemed more of a modern military warfare which is popular (some people I met say it's a 'cash-in' to 9-11; I agree to a small extent only). But other than that, I don't feel spiritually connected to the Generals universe itself (personal preference) but yet I still do have find similarities in that said game with previous installments (unit designs), etc. That is interesting, I feel. Actually, I do have a funny thought. Well, I was watching some Youtube videos on C&C's history, and from these videos, I found out that C&C originally was pitched to be a fantasy-themed game, but changes in pitching the original game idea meant spawning the sci-fi Tiberian saga that we know today. So my question is: * If a new C&C game (obviously to differentiate from the Tiberian/RA/Generals sagas) were to be made, what chances of marketing success will there be, if this new C&C game were to be fantasy-genre instead of the modern warfare/sci-fi themes?* (Come to think about it, it IS very silly. But since possibilities are almost infinite, I believe anything is, well, possible.)

    C&C 4 Unit Profile - GDI Kodiak

I am not usually the kind to write comments about whether a certain unit is OP or not, but my personal observation (it may be flawed) is that the Kodiak is actually quite sturdy as a Support class unit on its own. I think the main issue is that since there is certain limit where you can build units, the Kodiak being the most CP-expensive unit, it's not easy to build a lot of Kodiaks at once, and is usually best complimented with other ships... like Paladins and Hammerheads for example (I'm just saying only). That reminds me, I think it was one particular mission in GDI campaign, where you have to destroy 4 Defense Crawlers before you can escort an Armadillo unit in to the base, I think it was during the second part of the mission where the center part of the map where you encounter Kodiak spam. And it's like after completing the first half of that said mission, you're given only Refractors, Zone Raiders and Mastodons. Well, during my first run, I got almost all my units killed by these Kodiaks. So it does say a lot about the Kodiak in terms of firepower. I did try playing the same mission over and over again to see a Mastodon VS a Kodiak one-on-one, the Kodiak does win in that aspect. When I fully leveled up to LV20 and replayed that same mission with Support class, I surprisingly found the Kodiak quite fun to use (in Single Player only, for odd reasons). I found it funny to see enemy Kodiak vs my Kodiak with my own combination of Tier-2/3 Support units. I have never used the Kodiak in any Multiplayer mode yet... I don't have the time to go online to compete with others, and gathering enough Upgrade Points does seem to take quite some time before locking Tier 3 in such fast-paced battle... But I still love to see Kodiaks in Single Player for reasons I can't explain... it's just, well, fun to me. LOL!

News About the Current C&C Dev Team

Well, quite recently I stumbled upon two of EA's web-browser games. One is Battlefield Heroes which is something like those Battlefield series of games from EA, but with cartoony graphics and needs a plug-in to install (I use Firefox). Then, there's another game (not sure you heard of it?) called Lord of Ultima, which is also browser-based. But I never played Ultima at all. I have no intention to play in the future though. So... I think the likelihood of the C&C franchise going online - maybe browser-based in the same style like those two titles I've mentioned (there is no certainty yet, really) seems to be a natural step for EA to forward. I may not like the idea initially, others may not be too fond of seeing C&C going online casual and etc. But others might open themselves up to such new concepts. So in EA's eyes, having newcomers to an established franchise like C&C seems to be logical. You know, like Playfish Games and web-games like Pet Society/Hotel City/Crazy Planets? (I do play Pet Society on Facebook on a regular basis, lulz...) But are fans of the current C&C lore willing to open up to such new web-based games?

C&C 4 Unit Profile - Nod Cyborg Reaper

I didn't have the time to fully read every word of the said description of this unit profile; I skimmed through. But I am certain that there are doubts I have about the Reaper. Previously in Tiberian Sun, it had a multi-rocket weapon and a special ability to throw webs at infantry and trap. But now I'm playing this new C&C4 - recently I got GDI at Level 20 and Nod at Level 18 - the Reaper's function is some Defense-class unit that shoots Beam weapons. The rocket weaponry and webbing ability are gone, why's that? As for the Unit Profile page itself, I think more screenshots to display its abilities and weapons would be more concise than showing a video of the Reaper walking continuously. Just my thoughts.
