I want some new IP. No more Generals, no more Tib, no more Soviet vs. NATO, err, Allies, and any of that old ****. I want something 'effin new. I don't have any suggestions NOW, but that's the work of EA's dev team, right? As for the debate about SCII being an "HD Remake," **** that... SCII, while getting a few old units, and retaining characters and some strategies, has innovated SO ****ING MUCH that it sets a completely new bar for future RTS games, a bar which, in my opinion, won't be surpassed by any other RTS for at least 5 years or so, and even then, I think the only developer that can make a game that rivals SCII's quality is... (wait for it)... Blizzard. I mean, the most strategically intensive RTS, as well as well-balanced and perfect in all aspects (even cinematics, storyline, I mean literally EVERYTHING) was Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Before that? Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. Before that? Still another Blizzard game, SCI. As for game developers ripping off, err, appropriating unit ideas from one another, it's safe to say that that practice is done in all creative endeavors, be it writing, painting, etc.; but to justify that, I'll be going into psycho-philosophical mumbo-jumbo I learned from my college lessons: **** that doesn't need to be mentioned here. But I will say that C&C3 owes a lot to SCII, particularly with the Scrin, as much as SC owes a lot to Warhammer 40,000 (especially with the Zerg) and Warcraft owing a lot to Warhammer Fantasy Battles... But I can forgive that if it was implemented well. Unfortunately, C&C games are not particularly known for tremendous balancing and innovation, so... Well, maybe I can forgive a bit since I'm a fan; otherwise, no. Unforgivable. As for the new Renegade ideas, yeah, I'm open to that as well. But please, make it more intuitive. I'd love to see melee attacks (especially something like the assassination system in Halo: Reach), excellent aircraft (with great physics, just like the ones Battlefield 2), etc... And on second thought, let's have Dice make that new Renegade if ever. Now that would be great. As for a new RTS, maybe an Earth vs. Scrin thing, well, it would be fun, but that would mean huge innovations. I mean, a Tib game without Kane is like Scarface without the scar. They should have him make an appearance somehow, maybe explain the events of C&C4. And @gben, space combat and extraterrestrial battlefields is something commonplace (what do you have SCII for?), but have a game that blends BOTH (as in you have a battle on the planetary surface and in orbit occurring at the same time, and each with different possible outcomes and may have an outcome at a different time AND may affect the outcome of the other) would be the single greatest innovation in the history of RTS games so far. Even Blizzard hadn't tried that one, and the closest was the Risk-inspired campaign in the Warhammer 40,000 RTS campaigns, which wasn't even HALF of the idea I laid down. So yeah, those are my thoughts.

So yeah, now my parents had the phone company block long distance calls on our phone. So that's that. Well, the mom of that Brit kid should've been able to spot the bills early on... So mostly her fault. And the kid's eleven, imo someone that age has absolutely no idea what the phrase "too expensive" really means.

Important to know, though, that this is the second time something like this happened to Japan (but this is worse). And as for the magnitude, it's put at roughly about 8.8-9.2 in estimates. But it's not the quake or the tsunami that made the most damage... Rather it was the fires, just like the Hanshin earthquake (1995). I mean, it is one thing to be trapped beneath debris, but it's worse to be trapped with fires raging around you. Saw some footage on CNN.com too; the tsunami was carrying flaming debris as well.

Like I said... **** happens. Ain't no stopping it when it does; but I do feel sorry for Japan. Lately its been going on a downhill slump, it seems... And this just worsened matters.

The mom's fault, pretty much. You get monthly bills; how the hell does one rack up a bill THAT HUGE without anyone noticing!? And she should be reprimanding her son (though I personally condone corporal punishment)... Even I got an ass kicking from my dad for racking up a phone bill of... $900... But that's over a period of THREE months. Waaaaay less than how much that kid spent... And my parents already spotted it on the first month. Well, there are parents that are irresponsible...

Couldn't care less bout the girls and the story; if I did I'd be watching other movies. But it's the action I need... I spent far too long not experiencing theater-quality massive explosions. Can't wait. >

Reviews are good references, but it's important to note that each and every person has a specific bias... One man's trash might be another man's gold, after all. And considering that sometimes, we just need to have some mindless fun, these movies might fill in that need... Not that I have that urge now (or anytime soon). Movies can never please everyone; I can't imagine a movie in existence that doesn't have its share of both detractors and lovers. And @Luk3us: I totally agree with your second paragraph. I will see that movie; my dad's bound to DL it anyway, probably for purposes of mockery. >

It's times like these that remind of the single most important quote I know of... "**** happens." And they don't necessarily have any reason for happening to, other than causing ****.

Beeps, huh? Experienced that a few years back. Just rearrange the RAM in your PC (juggle/cycle through slots), sometimes that does the trick. Try checking the mount of the video card on the board as well. And since tech support (the one you posted) does say something about the monitor cable, try to check the pins. Freak accidents happen, and sometimes pins go MIA. But for the most part, I just think a fresh install will do it. Windows does have a tendency to degrade/rot over time, and maybe Win7 is no exception.

Ah, but you have heard of situations where things are turned around? (Or is it "tables are turned around?" I'm used to the Filipino term, "nabaliktad ang laro") COD offers little for those kinds of maneuvers... In RTS games, there are tactics, like buying time, that can change a slow start into a definite win. And that also works out in MMORPGs, like Guild Wars: be too fast, you lose; be too slow, you might still have a chance to win. > In COD, you don't get to think quick; just shoot quick. Less tactics in my opinion. I prefer Halo, where a momentary use of a powerup, or an equipment, can change a situation where you're getting ganked into you exterminating the would-be gankers. Same as in RTS; some tactics and units can pull off miracle recoveries, etc. Reflexes are necessary, but when it becomes the do-all or end-all of the game, it's just... Stupid.

This is interesting and all, but one has to make a distinction between someone who sees the flaws... And someone who sees ONLY the flaws. Sometimes we get too much of the latter, but very few of the former. It is important to remember that there is no such thing such as a perfect game, even the ones I love the most (read: Halo and StarCraft). Also, polarizing people is an old business model... It is okay to polarize people, i.e. people either hate or love you, so long as they are not INDIFFERENT to you (read: all publicity is GOOD publicity), and if you cater to the pole of people that are more plentiful, then the polarizing you did will have paid off. And as for the internet becoming the dumpster of moronic opinions... Two quotes: 1. 99% of everything is junk, 2. When there is a potentially life-/world-altering technology, someone will always find stupid uses for it.

What's with COD multiplay? It's just a reflex game. Whoever shoots first wins. That's how situations arise in COD. You rarely, if ever, hear of a single guy making a triple kill or higher and walking away alive. Unless he is one lucky bastard. Just a game of who reacts faster, period. And story? Pah. There are many games with great stories too. And some of these games have better gameplay too. >

So choose: XP, which lets you play hassle-free, but is unstable and highly susceptible to malware and all those other nasties... Or 7, which has a small (otherwise negligible hurdle) in running games, but is perfectly stable and hard to bring down (malware and other nasties-wise).
