@Nmenth, ahahaha! Didn't notice that; I thought they only packed sniper rifles. Interesting. On what level is that? P.S. Moving on to SC2, trying to finish the campaign on insane.

Happy New Year to the CNCNZ community from the PH!

    Countdown!

Hahahaha! Here, it's completely illegal. Just look up Davao City, and you'll know how it is here. But I'm not complaining. Btw, just about 2 hours, 38 minutes more to go here!

    Countdown!

Damn New Zealanders. They are always ahead in time. Haha. Well, at least I have the pleasure of gloating at those in the Western hemisphere still. LOL. Btw, just about 3 hours, 32 minutes more to go.

    Error loading ZH or Generals

AAAARGH! Now I'm just confused. Can anyone explain what the interface that is used before Windows boots up is called? And am I right in assuming that it is the one being used to access and clean boot sectors of viruses? >.<

Hm? Then how do you do it? I mean, remove boot sector virsues manually?

    Error loading ZH or Generals

No, no, I am not talking about which basis. I'm talking about accessing the boot sectors of the drives, which is where Sality and some other viruses reside.

No need to hear the PC moan... And for the virus, well. there's one that can affect all exe files (but not all at the same time, but at random), Sality. It doesn't outright kill all exe files, but it kills enough to necessitate either a full reformat (of all partitions), or a manual MS-DOS deletion (unless you have an anti-virus that cleans everything, including the boot-sector, accessible only through MS-DOS, before Windows boots up).

It is in the realm of possibility. And I did experience that before. Never assume that something is impossible.

I'm not so sure about this next suggestion, but maybe it's with your copy of Generals. Or overheating, it may be possible, depending on the number of fans your PC has and the weather where you're living. Meh, I really have no other suggestions, since I cannot test on my PC (I'm running a Win7 Ultimate Edition 64 bit on specs way different from yours). Should Valve make a Half-Life movie?

Lol. Yeah, well, Halo and a lot other games; it's just been the one that's consuming my time lately though. That's why it's on my mind. > Btw, many game movies do tend to suck. The producers seem to rely on the fact that most of the games which they are using as source material are big hits.

Oh... I haven't really specified what Mythic means. > Mythic means playing the game on Legendary (equivalent to Insane) difficulty, but with some added twists, namely, the usage of ALL SKULLS. Now skulls are difficulty multipliers, and having ALL active means the following: Black Eye - No auto-shield regeneration. Only melee attacks cause shields to recharge. Tough Luck - Grenades, Needler fire, projectiles (ie. Rocket Launcher, Brute Shot, and Fuel Rod Cannon) and vehicular charges are evaded more skillfully by the AI. Brutes go Berserk (meaning increased melee damage and toughness) more often and Grunts will turn Kamikaze (DANGER) more often. Catch - NPCs throw many more grenades at an alarming rate (at most, 2 grenades will kill you at Legendary). NPCs always drop two grenades when dying. Fog - Motion Tracker is fully disabled (makes AI have an easier time killing you with one-hit back melees). Thunderstorm - All enemies are promoted to higher ranks (this means that they are more resilient, hit harder, and are smarter). Famine - Dropped weapons have much less ammunition/charge (with tougher enemies, this makes for complicated situations). Tilt - Enemy defensive resistances/weaknesses are amplified (this means that if you don't have the right weapons, you're in for a rough fight). Mythic - All NPC's health allocation is doubled (combined with Thunderstorm and Tilt, the enemies become REAL tough. Iron - Teammate dead = Reload checkpoint. Everyone dead = Restart level. (This means if you are going solo, like me, you will have to restart the level from the very start each and every time you die) Now, if we follow that the credit (Halo's Xbox Live Currency) bonuses each skull gives is directly proportional to the amount of difficulty added by each skull, then the total difficulty multiplication from the original Legendary to Mythic is just 16.5. Plus Halo multiplayer is intensely competitive too. >

So I finally got around to getting C&C 4...

Yeah. Big time stereotypes. I feel that it was the most offensive and politically-incorrect C&C game. But it is fun. >

I can't put down Halo: Reach until I finish it in Mythic difficulty! No game, at least FPS, are tougher than Halo: Reach on Mythic difficulty.

Should Valve make a Half-Life movie?

I am not that enthusiastic for a Halo movie directly based on the games. Maybe a good spinoff, maybe one from the POV of another character. Again, it suffers from the same dilemma as the HL movie possibility; the main protagonist may end up becoming the best SUPPORTING actor instead, due to his being silent. Especially for Halo, where even the face of the Master Chief is never revealed (although it has been revealed that he is pale and has long hair). @Purplescrin, the most possible epic movie probably based on an epic game would be on Starcraft or Warcraft. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was ok, but I would like to point out that it is NOT based on a game; rather, it was based on an American radio drama (why they called it Final Fantasy, I have no idea). The Final Fantasy movie is Final Fantasy: Advent Children, based on FF VII. The best possible direction that a Halo movie will take will be similar to the Halo: Landfall shorts; a story significantly related to the Halo storyline, BUT not that storyline. There will be cameos of characters from the game, but the main cast will be different. That's the best possible direction for a Halo movie.

A bit of Halo: Reach again. Going for another mythic run on the 4th (namely, Long Night of Solace, or Long Night of Mythic in this case >) and 5th (namely, Exodus, or Mythodus in this case >). Pretty tough, long, and grueling. Seriously. >

Try running it either in administrator mode, or in compatibility mode, Windows XP Service Pack 2. That usually does the trick with games.

So I finally got around to getting C&C 4...

Ahahahaha! Yeah, well, you have a point there. Haha. But at least Generals had no pretensions or claims of being climactic or whatever.
  20. @Kane Nash, I'm not dismissing the statistical facts. Hehe. Actually, I agree with it; I'm just trying to say why I agree with it, and the possible (though not necessarily correct) reasons why the facts were, well, that.

Firing up Warcraft III and Cabal Online. I need to practice; gonna be joining a local gaming tournament. For Warcraft III, I need to polish my DotA skillz like hell. Competition is pretty stiff here. As for Cabal Online, I just need to formulate better PvP combos. I do need the cash, and I have a reputation to maintain. > Truly, competitive gaming isn't for the busy man. LOL.

So I finally got around to getting C&C 4...

@Inferno, I won't consider General's Challenge as a story. More like, just that; challenges. But at least I saw that it had no pretensions at all to being a real story. C&C4 was being put up as a definitive C&C game, the C&C game to conclude the Tiberian universe, the C&C game that will present an epic climax/end. But it's exactly the opposite of that. It has delusions of grandeur, and it ends up disgusting me (again, better no story then fake story), although that's a matter of perception.

    Stargate Universe Cancelled

Yep. It honestly looks terrible, what with all the droppings, and cancellations... Plus, the word "indefinitely" has not been associated with good vibes. Indeed, "indefinitely" just might become "never." Meh, when it comes to storyline and all, I go East. East as in Japan. Pretty deep stuff, and sci-fi too. Which is not to dumb down Western stories; it's just that, in the East, heavy attention is paid to even the most minute details, like characterization, background history, etc. Just look at Neon Genesis Evangelion. Nice sci-fi blended in with religious and mystical hooey; it's weird too, but in a good way. All the characters are well-developed and fleshed out too.
  25. @Plotkie, it's not necessarily better. It's just that more people seem to have paid attention to both games. Strong points in the sense that they have more attention received, and have (possibly) more fans. In my opinion, Tiberium Wars was really pretty good, and Zero Hour really made Generals fun and enjoyable (and balanced some issues out). RA3 is still pretty fun, so is Uprising, but it deviated greatly from the resource gathering method pioneered by C&C (namely, harvesting) and replaced that system/method with a method that's far too similar to, say, Rise of Nations, or maybe Warhammer 40,000.
