Not shooting engineers with tanks I guess haha

Alright so turning off DDraw completely eliminated the crashing, and I didn't really lose any features I was using, so all is well and it's not part of your work that's causing the crash, it's DDraw.
-
singlecpu=true Still crashed, much sooner into the game than it did before. Probably going to turn off ddraw shortly and see how it goes from there.
-
It's happened multiple times in multiple missions, doing nothing in particular that caused it. I'm on a Windows 7 (x64) laptop, Core i5 processor. I should get time tomorrow to try the 'singlecpu' and see how it goes.

Updated to 1.06cR3, and after a promising start the game crashed (I wasn't doing well anyways) and this time told me that it was the instruction at 7665a08c that caused the problem... which is still out of the range it should be in. I took a picture this time.

Yep, it's happened a few times and it's that exact window except with the addresses I mentioned earlier. I went into the CCConfig tool you've made and turned off DDraw and then back on, and it broke the scrolling (it's impossibly fast once again) but it isn't crashing now. I don't get it. If I get time to play in the next couple days I'll screenshot any errors I get, but they've all been the same so far.

Just upgraded to 1.06C R2, am running Windows 7. Had no problems at all with 1.06C R1. Playing the Nod campaign, after a little while in-game, it crashes with this: Application Error: C:\Westwood\C&C95\C&C95.EXE The instruction at 76e8a08c referenced memory at 04b41000 The memory could not be written Otherwise it seems to work well, but I can't get more than a minute or two out of the game before it crashes. Cheers!

Okay

Perhaps while you're there, maybe make the health bars show when hovering over the units. (I realize that's probably a major pain int he ass, if it's even possible, but if you're looking around in the functions for it, keep it in mind if you see a way to stick it in there!) Thanks again for all your hard work man (We needed a 'cheers' smiley here )

And all these years I thought buildings would randomly be losing one click of health. I never put that together hahahah

Here are a few things I noticed while playing some C&C yesterday that could possibly be worked out sometime. -You can't select your helicopters while they're in-flight. -Aforementioned helicopters don't uncover when they fly through part of the map that's still 'shrouded' (this may be intentional, I'm not sure) -When you have a group of units selected, and tell them to load into the Chinook transport helicopter, only one goes in per click. -Buildings randomly will take one click of repair -The scroll speed, even when turned the whole way down in settings, is REALLY, REALLY fast. Just some ideas, thanks

Makes sense. Like I said, other than when it first loads the main menu, the colors are fine, so I'm not too worried about it, thanks though Cheers!

Awesome. I guess I can try out the new mouse I got for this laptop And just to throw this in there, it's not a huge issue, but when I launch the game, the main menu shows up and the colors all wrong, like when you try to run the wrong, erm, bit-age (my specialty is in web design, not GUI). As soon as I load into a game though the colors are correct, and if I exit out back to the main menu, its colors are correct too. I don't know if it's just my machine not too happy with it or if something's up when it first loads the menu. OS is Windows 7 SP1 (64-Bit). I installed from your CD-less installer, per advise I saw somewhere on installing on 64-bit machines.

Sounds good, I read through the whole thread last night before I signed up I think 800x600 will work quite well as a compromise between resolution and being able to tell infantry apart. One question though, if I play a bit now in 1024x768 and when R2 is released, step down to 800x600, will it have the same loading issue I read earlier with it not being able to load the higher-resolution save files?

Hey Nyer, what you've done with the original C&C is amazing. I first got it new back when it came out in the mid-90's when I was about 5 and played it to death (my old computer was pretty much dead from all the savegames!). Nothing has quite been able to match the original Command and Conquer, and you've made it practical for me to play it once again, on Windows 7, nonetheless. For that, I commend you. I got 1.06c R1 installed with the hotfix (from what I understand, R2 isn't out yet, right?) and ran through the first NOD mission, and am quite impressed (although the units may prove to be too small for me to see ) with it. I look forward to more of your work on improving the game and definitely will be hanging around here a bit to throw in my 2 cents and any issues I encounter. Cheers, -Matt
