Red Alert 3 Dev Tournament Update #1

EALA Assistant Producer, Matt Ott, has posted an update about the Red Alert 3 Dev Tournament on the Official Red Alert 3 Site. These dev tournaments have become a tradition at EALA as the dev team enter the final few stages of Red Alert 3's development. Here is a sample....

 

The last few weeks of game development tend to be the most taxing. All of the "fun stuff" is done - the levels are designed and built, the art is in place, and the multiplayer balance feels good. All that's left is scrutinizing the code, fixing the most obscure bugs, and ensuring the game is ready to ship on October 28th. It's not the most glamorous part of game development, but it's incredibly important. So to keep spirits high, the RTS team has a tradition. Every development cycle, while we're neck deep in finaling, a rookie producer organizes the Dev Team Tournament. This year, I'm that rookie.

 

To keep things simple until the quarter-finals, the tournament is single-elimination 1 v 1 on Battlebase Beta. The brackets were random with one exception - Gavin Simon and Jeremy Feasel had to be on opposite corners. Gavin takes this tournament very seriously - he still has the C&C 3 tournament bracket (which he won) hanging in his office. And most of the devs agree that if anyone could take Gavin down in the finals, it's Jeremy. So in the interest of an exciting final, those two were split up.

Yeah, just read. Nothing special to me. No sign of Raj Joshi but still, I wish we could play Battlebase as well. Not just restricted to only the 4 maps given in the beta.
