CrazyRyan 0 Posted April 15, 2009 Im trying to make a skirmish map that i can play with a few of my buddies Vs a pumped up CPU player with a huge base to start with. (basically a co-op type map) I was able to add the skirmish AI and give control of the buildings to that AI player (the structures that are on the map are designated to player 3 start so i just make player 3 the ai player when loading up the map to play). The problem is the enemy AI dosent use the structures that he already has. For instance barracks on the map arent being used but he will build his own barracks and use that to create troops, and although the AI starts with ore refineries at the start of the game he just builds his own right next to them as if they arent there. Do i have to configure these buildings to be used properly? Ive been searching the forums with no luck Share this post Link to post
RedRevolution 0 Posted April 23, 2009 This should be expected. The Skirmish AI in most games assumes it starts with only a ConYard and some cash and therefore it wouldn't utilize any pre-placed units. Almost all RTS games are like this. Take StarCraft, giving the Terran Custom Level (=Skirmish AI, only in Blizzard language) to a Terran CP with a large base will inevitable produce strange results. In RA2, Skirmish AI didn't make good use of pre-placed structures either, apart from Superweapons, which is the same as RA3. I would suggest you leave the AI to build its own "factory" buildings such as Shipyards, but you can give them pre-placed base defenses and power plants. Share this post Link to post
