Radeon 8500 XP driver

Hi, does anyone know a Radeon XP :? driver that works well with Generals. I've tried several and had no joy. ATI sugest an older one which I've tried and it's still locking and the graphics go haywire (lines etc).

I did a bit of searching around with Google but didn't find that much. I did find some stuff talking about a similar problem mention by other people on other forums. It appears that the problem is with the Radeon 8500 to 9200 series of ATI card using Direct 9.0.

 

People using that range of older cards reported that using the Catalyst 3.7 drivers improved their game.

I'm currently running catalyst 3.7 but Generals keeps locking up , for my 9700pro Catalyst 3.4 (AGP at 4x) was the best for playing Generals. I'm also using Rage 3D Tweak for additional fine tuning, but most problems seemed to be caused by AGP running at 8x....

 

Best advice keep trying & tweaking....and once you get it stable don't touch it :!: (unless you really need to for another program/game).
