Zero Hour cursor flickering

The mouse cursor flickers and doesn't change to the correct special cursor when held over an object. Any help appreciated. Very difficult to play like this.

Are you running the latest drivers for your video card?

If not get the latest version and install them. Also check that your installation of Direct X is up to date. Generals and Zero Hour requires Direct X 8.1 at a minimum. The latest version of Direct X is 9.0b.

I finally got a response from EA tech support and this idea worked for me.

 

we can try turning off the mouse cursor hardware acceleration:

 

Right-click on your Desktop, choose Properties, click the Settings tab, and then the Advanced button.

Click on the Troubleshooting tab (Windows XP) or Performance tab (Windows 95/98/ME), and you should see a slider for Hardware Acceleration. Set this at one notch from the right, which should say that it will disable cursor functions.

 

I actually had the hardware slider in the first notch to the right to play BF1942 with less problems and when I put the slider all the way to the right, full acceleration, it cleared up my Generals and Zero Hour mouse cursor problems. Hope this helps. Thanks
