CREATE-A-SUPERSTAR REDESIGN – The franchise’s renowned customization interface delivers a new look, improved graphical quality and a host of new parts, allowing players to create Superstars who are comparable in quality with their WWE counterparts. Take creation one step further with a new Paint Tool to detail created Superstars with original tattoos, logos and other unique designs.


SHARE THE CREATIVITY – Share created content with the WWE Universe by uploading created Superstars, entrances, finishing moves, highlight reels, created storylines and more. This is a true sequel for the series, a return to what made so many play SmackDown vs. Raw 2006. Among the chief new features concerning gameplay is a new chain grapple system. Simply use a strong grapple on an opponent and you can switch between a headlock, a Collar/Elbow tie-up, an arm-wrench, and a rear waistlock. This new feature gives you the ability to switch between your chain grapples at will, a welcome feature if you're a klutz like me. Also, they've done away with the dedicated ultimate control grapples, while still retaining the ultimate control moves so you can add them to your regular strong grapples. Gameplay feels similar to previous iterations of the series, but it's much more fluid than previous games. Strikes connect with malicious impact, submissions look great, and grapple moves look painful. As your chosen wrestler inflicts damage to your enemies, you may notice redness on the affected areas. That's intentional, to signify damage to those areas. And those areas are textured quite well, as the wrestlers are very well done and look exactly like the person they are made to represent. But, if the likes of Jeff Hardy, Goldust, and Santino Marella don't satisfy your primal need to kick someone, how about Create-a-superstar(CAS)? Well, you'll be happy to hear that the CAW has been revamped with numerous parts, hairs, and 3D elbow and knee pads, as stated above. In addition, there are a myriad of new moves in the Create-a-moveset. If none of those are sufficient for you, try your hand at creating your own with the numerous additions to the Create-a-finisher mode.


However, there a few caveats that are a bit bothersome. The physics engine makes the gameplay interesting, but it causes a few ragdoll glitches during gameplay. In addition, grabbing a downed opponent and doing the move you want can be a bit troublesome, as I have found that I have often gone for a side grapple, only to grab his head or legs. In addition, this game is a bit late detecting when the opponent is standing and when they are laying, resulting in your character doing a move normally done to a laying opponent, done to the standing opponent. This, however, is partially negated by game adjusting the impact. So, for instance, if you do a Ghetto Stomp while the opponent is getting up, instead of hitting him with nothing, you'll instead hit with Bourne's flying knees.

You sure you don't work for THQ & EA? :P


Last Smackdown vs Raw game I played was probably 06 funnily enough. I've kinda lost interest in the series since then though. What is the story editor, main event, manager thingey like? I remember it used to be fairly linear.


Its the sort of game I'd get once its in a bargain bin. :)

The story editor isn't a general manager mode so much as it's a story writer mode. You can book up to four years worth of shows per storyline. You can set the length, number of superstars, the text that appears, the locale, and the animation. Your story can comprise of 50 scenes and 450 matches on the X-Box 360 and PS3 versions. It's a bit limited right now, as there only 100 scenes in the game right now. It's still fun to use, and you can still do Russo swerves and such.


Oh, and you can only use any created superstar up to ten times in your storyline.

I never played a single WWE game before since all of them are video consoles, not a single one was for the PC. I still want a PC version for this! :mellow:
