Generals/Zero hour units...

I wanted to get your opinion on this... it seems to me that most units in Generals/Zero hour especially the GLA units aren't intimidating but more or less comical...

toxin tractor? battle bus? motorcycles? upgrading the workers shoes...

I guess i miss the old games like Red Alert because it had blood when infantry were killed and the mammoth tank and tesla coil was pretty intimidating...

I think the biotankthingiee is pretty intimidating . . . esp to my infantry garrisoned in the buidlings :S

I agree that Red Alert and Aftermath will probably always be the best. I never get sick of it. But I got sick of Red Alert 2 pretty quickly.

I think they've done really well with the game engine. And I'm really happy to see completely different units for each faction.

"battle bus? motorcycles? upgrading the workers shoes... " - Never heard of these! (Maybe it's zero hour, I don't have that yet).

I actually find it very believable. Who know maybe we'll get a "Dirty Bomb Terrorist" in an upgrade. In the little book, that came with the came, ia a story that makes it even more plausible.

The GLA's mindset is to use commonly available things to wage their war. Don't forget, an important GLA tactic is "Hit & Run". What better weapon than a Dune Buggy.

A suicide bomber on a motorcyle isn't out of the question either. Pintle mounted machine gun in the back of a Ford F-150, Gattling gun on a flatbed, Farm irrigation tractor loaded with a toxic payload, all possible.

I said it before and I'll say it again, ZH is what Generals should have been! We now have countermeasures!

Sorry I disagree with you but it all seems believable to me.

I still like RA2 for Internet use. Due to all the cheating going on, it's not worth playing anymore. For ZH it's only going to be Solo-Play for AWHILE. I don't have the time to get good at everything (with all the new features).

Generals and ZH are easily the most realistic C&C titles ever...

Don't find Overlord Tanks intimidating do you? How about Nuke Cannons? MOAB's? Laser Tanks? Col. Burton? A-10's? Scud Missiles?

Comical? My goodness. You're one of those guys who believes that any game with blood automatically makes it more intimidating? Give me a break. I personally love the units in Generals, both ZH and the original. The realism into future technology is awesome to me. Popular science recently had an article featuring the Raptor, (a USA unit, for the less informed.), and I was astounded. I mean, I think that a wing of these suckers would win any real war. (I think that we have something like ten of them right now, and they fly circles around the F-16 and other high-speed fighters. Again, this is from the Popular Science article.)

I mean, as for the GLA, I think that their units are dead-on to the terrorist mindset. Using buses, tractors, and motorcycles to fight against Tanks and Jets seems like the exact kind of tactics any guerilla fighting force might use.

And as for intimidation, have you never seen forty Commanche's in flying like a colony of hornets toward your base? How about the launch of a Particle Beam, or worse yet, a SCUD Storm? How about a column of Emperor Tanks headed for your defenses? Or maybe a relentless force of constant Aurora strikes? What about ten Infantry transports suddenly becoming a sea of Mini-Gunner Infantry, ready to tear your base to pieces. It's moments like these that make Generals a truly awesome game to me, and makes even games like Red Alert pale in comparison. I'll take Generals over other C&C games anyday.
