error with generals patch, please HELP!!!!!!!!

right, i installed generals a while ago and left the CD in my old house (2600 km away so its a bit of a problem getting it back!) i got a crack for the game and then when i wanted to use the patch (1.07) it started normally and then said "old file not found, file with same name found. contents do not match, operation cancelled" or something! i really need to get the maps.big file... any ideas?
