Nyerguds 102 Posted November 22, 2011 Just few more hours on Polish and You will read it perfectly Yes, it is just like as you written this ;p Heh, I doubt it. All I'm doing is translating the original English string with Google and picking the suggestion that matches your abbreviation I don't know how to write it in English so i'll write it in Polish - Niech Ci Bozia w dzieciach wynagrodzi Hm, Google Translate seems to mangle it quite a bit as well, but from what it gives me I assume you're thanking me So let it be "Poziom Technologiczny" ;p OK The Google gave You preposition of "Technologia". But here more correct form is adjective "Technologiczny". Ah. Well that stuff is hard to see in languages I don't know. For Spanish and Portuguese I still had my knowledge of French to fall back on, but this is completely new terrain Share this post Link to post
Nyerguds 102 Posted November 22, 2011 Ridiculously? Try to spell "Konstantynopolitańczykowianeczka" Okay... so I decided to look that up, and got this from the Polish wiktionary. I put it through Google Translate, and... meanings:noun, feminine (1.1) non-existent word adopted in the Polish language as a joke for the formation of words derived from combining several shorter words, translated as: "a young resident of the city of Constantinople" A joke word made up as example of how to construct ridiculously long words in Polish? Heeey... that's cheating (there's a similar joke word in Dutch though, and it's even longer than the Polish one, namely Hottentottententententoonstellingsterreinen, or "Hottentot tents exhibition areas") btw, I still need the translations for the "(on) hold" and "ready" text for the sidebar icon statuses. [edit] Just started on the fonts. 4 different fonts, about two dozen characters to change/add... yea, this is gonna take a while Share this post Link to post
Nyerguds 102 Posted November 23, 2011 Fonts are finished. I only added the characters ąćęłńśźż (and the upper case versions) though, since those are the only ones that are used in the text. Otherwise I'd have to add some 50 characters to each of the fonts X_x Next (and final) step is the build icons. Still need that "on hold"/"ready" for the sidebar though. Share this post Link to post
Traymen 6 Posted November 24, 2011 Sorry i don't have much time now so i'll make it quick... "Ready" - Gotów "On hold" - W zawieszeniu I'll have more time in weekend so cya... Share this post Link to post
Nyerguds 102 Posted November 25, 2011 "W zawieszeniu" - woah, I don't think that'll ever fit. I only got 38x8 pixels to work with, and the absolute minimum width needed for most letters is about 4-6 pixels, meaning I can only go up to about 8 letters. So if you got either an abbreviated form of that or anything slightly shorter, that'd be handy The English version just shows "HOLD", by the way. So any translation of a word like "paused", "stopped", or something that's shorter ("W zaw."?) should do. Share this post Link to post
Traymen 6 Posted November 28, 2011 Sorry for so long response - i thought that weekend will be more...flexible So... If "W Zawieszeniu" is too long, "Stop" is good though. Share this post Link to post
Nyerguds 102 Posted December 6, 2011 I worked on this a bit today, and managed to finish it (besides the icons... that's still gonna take a while.) Problems I found: When aborting a mission, the string "Restart" was completely untouched. Did you simply forget that one? map screen strings: One of the downwards diacritics (the Ę of "POSTĘP GIO") doesn't get fully removed, but there's little I can do about that, and it's just one single pixel anyway, so it's barely noticeable. map screen strings: the "M" of the string "WYBIERZ TERYTORIUM", from "select territory to attack" wasn't wiped off, meaning ths tring is too long. However, splitting it over the 2 strings "WYBIERZ TERYTO-" and "RIUM DO ATAKU" seems to solve this. The score screen string "POZOSTAŁO PIENIĘDZY" is a bit too long, going over the money animation. I'm not sure if it's worth shortening though; it doesn't really look too bad (see screenshot). [edit] If you want to try it out... here you go: http://nyerguds.arsaneus-design.com/cnc95upd/cc95p106/beta/lang_pl.rar Just add to the folder, and set the language in conquer.ini to 'pl'. This is the entire language pack. The only thing I still need to do is making the icons. At this moment, I added icons without text in it. Share this post Link to post

Traymen 6 Posted December 7, 2011 (edited) I'll check everything tomorrow...today..., 'coz i have reached download limit...let be dammed mobile internet...good enough to surf internet... When aborting a mission, the string "Restart" was completely untouched. Did you simply forget that one? Nah, just "Restart" is more proper form in gaming than "Powtórz". Anyway more common in Polish is "to restart smth" than "powtórz" in games and things like that. map screen strings: One of the downwards diacritics (the Ę of "POSTĘP GIO") doesn't get fully removed, but there's little I can do about that, and it's just one single pixel anyway, so it's barely noticeable. It's OK. It's enough good if it is "noticable"... map screen strings: the "M" of the string "WYBIERZ TERYTORIUM", from "select territory to attack" wasn't wiped off, meaning ths tring is too long. However, splitting it over the 2 strings "WYBIERZ TERYTO-" and "RIUM DO ATAKU" seems to solve this. I was going to check those info's but i had reached download limit (as i mentioned) and i couldn't see that in game...my fault...mea culpa x 3... I would like to erase this 'Wybierz Terytorium Do Ataku" and replace it with 'Wybierz Miejsce Ataku". Shorter and more proper form. The score screen string "POZOSTAŁO PIENIĘDZY" is a bit too long, going over the money animation. I'm not sure if it's worth shortening though; it doesn't really look too bad (see screenshot). I have just realised that "Pozostało Pieniędzy." could be changed into 'Pozostała Reszta". Meaning is the same, but it better fits to this screen. @Devil Yes, i'm from Szczecin, but shhh...it's a secret ;p Could you copy those bugs here? I can't check it (now), but i'm curious what bugs did You found Edited December 7, 2011 by Traymen Share this post Link to post
Nyerguds 102 Posted December 7, 2011 Devils already gave me a bunch of strings to change when he talked to me in the CnCNet IRC chat... the current version of the language pack includes these changes. He gave some word order changes like always putting "Czołg" behind the tank type (Lekki Czołg, Średni Czołg), using "load/save/delete game" rather than "load/save/delete mission", and "Porażka" for "mission failed". As I said, I can fake the ź and ż type diacritics by using 2 lines and putting a , or . on the line above btw, I uploaded a version of the pack without the blank icons. That way, maybe you can download it without problems. The icons take tons of space (and they're still blank anyway); the version without icons is only 25kb, while the version with them is almost half a megabyte. lang_pl_noicons.rar Share this post Link to post
Nyerguds 102 Posted December 7, 2011 Just a bit of experimentation: It seems I CAN get the "Ą" on the failed/accomplished text... sort of (I know the text is (probably) wrong. I was just testing it if was possible to emulate that diacritic ) Share this post Link to post

Traymen 6 Posted December 7, 2011 (edited) So i'm back to work He gave some word order changes like always putting "Czołg" behind the tank type (Lekki Czołg, Średni Czołg), using "load/save/delete game" rather than "load/save/delete mission", and "Porażka" for "mission failed". As I said, I can fake the ź and ż type diacritics by using 2 lines and putting a , or . on the line above It's all OK, but as i know "Lekki" isn't a mark / serial number / codename of those tanks. It's a simple adjective and even in other, more complex grand strategies (such as Hearts of iron) the common form was 'Czołg Lekki". But it isn't a worth of extend this "problem" any longer. Let it be as it is. Just a bit of experimentation: It seems I CAN get the "Ą" on the failed/accomplished text... sort of (I know the text is (probably) wrong. I was just testing it if was possible to emulate that diacritic ) It looks brilliant...but the 1st image However i see an error in left upper corner in "Opcję". It should be 'Opcje" - w/o diacritial mark. Tray just little bugs like zwierzęciach it should be zwierzętach And i'm not sure but: 1=GIO ruszyło z ofensywą i odcięło jedną z Naszych baz. Znajdź drogę 2=do niej. Jeden z Naszych agentów będzie Ci towarzyszył by 3=zapalić flary we właściwym momencie. Kiedy będziesz w środku, 4=odbuduj się i zniszcz pobliskie wojska GIO. in 4th line shouldn't be: okop się ? Good that You fix those bugs That's how ends alone translating after few "ten's" of sentences... In the matter of "okop się". In english form is "rebuild yourself" what does mean exactly "odbuduj się". if it would be "Okop się" in English form than it should be written "trench yourself". I just install C&C and download all those patches and see for more of those...errors ;p P.S. What's your nickname Devils in cc-series forum? ;p If you are intrested maybe you could spend some time on translating Nyerguds *Readme* files? I have an exams (in near future) but i would like to end this project. Edited December 7, 2011 by Traymen Share this post Link to post
Nyerguds 102 Posted December 7, 2011 The readme files are just for the patch release though... language packs normally only have a very small readme. Though, feel free to translate my patch notes after I release revision 2 (which will be within this week, if all goes well) One thing that would be handy to translate to complete this pack would be the setup tool though. The 1.06c revision 2 setup tool supports getting translated by language packs. You just need to translate the strings in this file for that: cc95p106/language/ccconfigeng.lan It's simply a text file in UTF-8 format, so no special conversions are needed You can get the new setup tool here to test it out, but keep in mind it won't work on the current version of C&C. So don't unrar it in the game folder. Share this post Link to post

Traymen 6 Posted December 7, 2011 So i played few rounds with polish localisation and i must say that is still much work to do "Wybierz Terytorium Do Ataku" works fine on my PC. (Vista Home) on 1024 x 768 resolution. Also all info's in "Global Map theater". I still have to read all those briefings and polish them to be more Polish Sometimes occurs a strange error in 'Global Map theater". In some words, letter "i" becomes unreadable. It totally changes font to unknown to me alphabet. On 1024 x 768 resolution i had problem with sidebar - info pop-up didn't disappeared. But only in 1st mission. Some "ę" missing in "Opcje" menu. However, there is no "ę" in "Opcje" panel from battlefield window Some diacritical marks still need to be added in "Main Menu" and "Nowe Misje". Probably i will do a final patch this weekend...damn Share this post Link to post
Nyerguds 102 Posted December 8, 2011 Sometimes occurs a strange error in 'Global Map theater". In some words, letter "i" becomes unreadable. It totally changes font to unknown to me alphabet. Hmm, can you tell me exactly on which mission and string that happened? It could indicate I forgot to add a character to the font. On 1024 x 768 resolution i had problem with sidebar - info pop-up didn't disappeared. But only in 1st mission. That's a known bug, and mentioned in the patch FAQ. It disappears when you open and close the main menu. It's just because the mission is smaller than the screen resolution. The area outside it doesn't get redrawn to black. Some "ę" missing in "Opcje" menu. However, there is no "ę" in "Opcje" panel from battlefield window Well, list all needed corrections here and I can implement them. [edit] On plokite's request, I split the topic. The discussion on Croatian is now here. Share this post Link to post
Nyerguds 102 Posted December 9, 2011 This might interest you guys: I adapted the new missions menu to read the mission side prefixes from the game's strings file. Originally, it just used hardcoded "GDI: " and "NOD: " strings from the exe file. Now, it uses the strings used on the side choice buttons for multiplayer. http://www.moddb.com/mods/command-conquer-unofficial-patch-106/images/custom-new-missions-menu-prefixes Share this post Link to post
