C&C - Free to Play Beta Not Expected Until 2013

On the Official C&C Twitter page, someone asked when the beta for Command & Conquer - Free to Play would be begin. The answer was short and to the point. It will get started in 2013.

Wait a second, wasn't the move to a modular F2P model supposed to shorten the time until the initial release significantly? Even if they start with the beta right at January 1st, a proper testing phase would allow release no earlier then a half to a third year before the pre-F2P estimated release. What happened to their development schedule?

No development time frame has ever been discussed. This is the first indication for any thing so far.

Back when Gen2 was still a regular game, its release was scheduled for end of 2013 for the pre-orders.
