Mod.str file woes

Recommended Posts

Hiya all, I was hoping someone could help me with a long-term problem I have had with the mod.str file.

For some reason, whatever I seem to try, it will not work and my new units are always missing the names and descriptions I've written in for them.

Now, this is the strange part...

When I build the samplemod and test it, oh look, it works - the newly added Harbinger has the correct names from the file.

However when I simply copy the file into the exact same place in my mod and make the relevant changes before saving, it doesn't work!

So frustrating...

I am using windows 7 along with Bibber's Extra SDK Expansion.

I've tried the putting the file into "mods\your mod name\misc\data" directory as suggested in the RA3 Modding FAQ - but still to no avail.

Try contact Bibber via PM in Moddb. He knows RA3 modding more than anyone else.

Thanks for the advice, turns out I figured it out this morning...

The file did need to in "mods\your mod name\misc\data" - it just wouldn't compile until I used a capital letter for the folder names, thats all it was ^_^

Thanks for clearing that up, I probably just made a typo somewhere along the line. I reinstalled the RA3 SDK and your modding tools as well. Oh I'm not sure what I did now, just glad its finally working :P
