Game interruption

Recommended Posts

Something very troublesome is happening, since I assembled my last PC system, when I play certain battles in Generals ZH.

The program simply goes off and the system goes back to Windows, saying there was a "serious error" and listing several things that might cause them.

In my case it's not limitation for memory (1GB), CPU (AMD 2600), chipset (VIA KT600) or video board ATI Radeon 9600 256MB. MOBO is Asus A7V600-X.

Any incompatibilities anyone may think of?

What might be causing such a problem? How to solve it?

Is your system overheating? Do other graphically intense games have problems (eg. Doom 3)?

Do you have the latest drivers for all your hardware? What OS do you have?

Have not tried other graphically intense games in this system yet, but Generals ZH does increase heat when it's played.

I know that because my previous MOBO (Abit) with same chipset did heat up the VIA chip and booted-out by itself on some occasions. So I installed the temp probe program and could check it was due to heat.

That's why I changed to the Asus MOBO. Chipset was the same, so first thing I did was also install its own temp probe program. Heat now was within normal parameters, even if it certainly goes up about 10 degrees when playing.

Strange thing is on the Abit I played all these same GZH battles several times and never had a problem as the one I am having now. The boot now is to Windows, not complete boot out as on the Abit. And temp is far from maximum.

I do have the latest drivers. The OS is 2000pro.
