getting "unable to locate neccesary files" error o

Hey guys, am new here so am very much appreciative of any help I can get. I'm trying to install Red Alert so I changed the compatability on the setup.exe file to win 95 (i'm using xp pro) and now instead of the OS error it says "unable to locate neccesary files, please run setup.exe from cd-rom" which, of course, is exactly what I'm doing. If anyone is familiar with this problem could u let me know how to correct it? I;ve been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out and get the game installed. Thx.....

Yes, I have. The problem is between steps 3 and 4.
