C&C Generals

i need help in trying to play Generals,i've installed it correctly along with the latest patch.

 

my problem is when i click on the shortcut i get the next page or whatever its called then i hear a loud sound from the game "A LOUD DONK",fatal error i'm told,then the game sits doing nothing,yet under ctrl alt delete it shows as running :?

 

i'm fed up un-installing & re-installing as of now it's 3x(times),so far

 

this was running ok the last time before a format :cry:

WinXP Home

AMD 3000+

1.5Gb PC400(3200).

MSI Board

onboard sound 7.1 latest drivers & BIOS

FX5600 Latest drivers

3 X Hard-drives

Plenty of room

Have you tried the latest drivers for your video card, sound card and motherboard.

 

Update the video card drivers, then try the game, it that doesn't help try updating the drivers for your sound card, repeat the process for your motherboard.
